The Refuge on Roanoke Island is mostly full-timers, with transient sites located around the edge of tidal basis, which is circled with concrete walkway, very nice views.
Park features nice pool, bath house, covered pavilion, and boardwalks along side and into the wetlands, which are very picturesque. Standard size sites, grassy, no trees (parts of other park areas do have trees). Full-timer sites are well-maintained.
There is an on-site manager here. We did not use the bath house so cannot comment on it. We stayed in September, during cloudy weather, with nice breeze off the water.
