Greensboro KOA – Greensboro, NC

The staff at Greensboro KOA are very friendly. We were escorted to a fairly level, gravel site. Our site had good water pressure and was clean. The WIFI worked for me.

There is no cable but there are lots of local channels.  There were lots of trees with acorns dropping on the roof of our RV.

Some of the seasonal sites need to “tidy up” a little. There were not many people there during our stay.

Thank you Carolyn for a warm welcome and a great atmosphere. River Valley Horse Camp was a pleasant surprise discovered along a path.

If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by.

With kindest regards, the Wilsons

From River Valley Horse Camp website:

“Our campgrounds and campsites are definitely “horse friendly”, but a horse is not a requirement to book a stay for camping at the River Valley Horsecamp. You will find fifty (50) campground sites that are equipped with both water and electricity and an abundance of primitive campsites. Of course all of these campsites have access to the beautiful climate controlled shower house. One side of the shower house is for men and the other side for women and each side is decorated accordingly. Also available to all campers is a coin operated laundry, a very unique playground for the children, a fishing pond, many trails for horseback riding, a large warm up arena, a covered stall is included if available. If you don’t have a camper or tent there is even a bunkhouse that sleeps six (6) and a one (1) room log cabin that you can rent. Steve and Carolyn think that horses should also be comfortable so there is also a wash and rolling area for your horse(s). You can read the details of many of the above facilities on other pages on this site. Again, the campground is open to all, horses or not.”

Arkadelphia RV Park has been under new management since July 2016. Mike, Chris and Dedee are doing a great job getting this campground back on its feet.

Arkadelphia RV Park is conveniently located right off I-30 for easy Off/On access. The bathrooms and laundry room are very clean. This is a nice campground with great customer service.

Fall Hollow Campground and Restaurant – Hohenwald, TN

We stayed at Fall Hollow Campground in a travel trailer.

The sites are grass/gravel. The new owners are updating the park. We had a full hook up site 30 amp and the owner was putting in sewer to another section of the park while we were there. The showers in the bathhouse were hot and clean. There is a restaurant on site open Thursday-Saturday night and Sunday for brunch. They serve good food. They have walking trails through the woods along a crystal clear spring fed creek.

The owners were on hand and helped us find things to do in the area. The local wineries are spectacular.

Hillside Bluegrass RV Park – Cochran, GA

I found Hillside Bluegrass RV Park by chance while driving on US 23/GA 87 in Cochran, Georgia on the way to Florida for the winter.

The campground is open all year and you can tell the owners are working hard to please their campers. The park is located on 90 acres… it is beautiful and peaceful, and close to a couple golf courses. Sites are fully serviced with water and electricity (up to 50 amps limited), many with sewer hookups.  The park has an amphitheater, pavilions and nature trails for recreational use. Hillside also host gatherings for club, or organizations.

Hillside is most famous for its Bluegrass Festival, held twice a year (May & September) on the campgrounds. The festival draws bluegrass fans and pickers from all over the country.   Some of our Performers have been The Infamous Stringdusters, Cadillac Sky, Fontanna Sunset, Randy Kohrs & The Lites, and many other wonderful bands.

This campground is definitely a place I will go back.

Slickrock Campground – Moab, UT

This place baits you with a low price on-line and then claims, “Blackout,” date when you arrive. No blackout dates listed on their website. So they can claim whatever they want.

I’ve camped all over the United States and Canada. This is by far the worst campground ever! I have never been cheated and treated so poorly at any campground. The police showed up daily for what I’m assuming is angry patrons. The owner became belligerent with us when we complained about the park and its operating practices. They know all the other parks are likely full and you have no choice. I would bet this place has never refunded money to anyone as they are all about taking your money and then charging you more.

The RV spaces are so close together I swear a saw slide-outs touching each other. No open fires are allowed because the RV’s are so close together. You must share a charcoal pit with the unit next to you. There are full time trailers with junk piled all over.

Stayed October 2016, traveled with family.

Yellowhammer Campground – Clanton, AL

Yellowhammer Campground has just opened for business, and we are delighted to have found it.

The first night we chose a pull-through because it was late, but the next morning we chose a back-in site at the end of the row which gave us more privacy for our dogs. Our site had a concrete patio with a paver extension. There was also a grassy/sandy area where we put up our screen room. The campground has a nature trail around a small lake (catch and release fishing) and then through the associated trailer sales lot. The round trip was an enjoyable 6/10 of a mile. The restrooms and showers and laundry area are immaculately clean. There is a small lounge area with a big-screen tv and couch and chairs as well as a small kitchen area. The lounge can be reserved for groups who want to meet there. There is a fenced playground for small children and a fenced pet area.

The campground is locally owned, and the owner and staff were all very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely stay here again.

Made in the Shade RV Park – Granville, TN

Made in the Shade RV Park | RVBuddy.com

Made in the Shade RV Park is small and full of trees which appeal to us.

Although the pool was closed since we were there in October, the pool appears to be of a good size well-maintained. The campground has a small lounge with a pool table which can also be used for table tennis. There is a large stone fireplace in there as well. There are two washers and dryers for camper use. For children there is a small swing set as well as tether ball, basketball and a volleyball net.

The campground has a new owner, and it is obvious he is intent on restoring the campground facilities. The campground is very close to the town of Granville, and we walked into town most days. During the time we were camping, Granville celebrated their Fall Festival which was wonderful. Every Saturday night the town hosts the Sutton Ole Time Music hour as well as a family-style dinner. If we lived closer, we definitely would plan weekend camping trips at Made In The Shade regularly.

We stayed in a full-service site with our two dogs for 8 days at the beginning of October. One alert: Made in the Shade welcomes hunters, so if that offends you, this might not be the place for you. On the other hand, the owner is very accommodating about assigning campsites.

Neskowin Creek RV Resort – Neskowin, OR

Neskowin Creek RV Resort is located in a beautiful valley with hills and trees surrounding it.

Although it was not promised in the literature, we were led to believe that we would have beach access during our stay. Upon arrival, we learned that a dispute between the park’s access rights and a housing project’s rights are currently under litigation. Sadly, the path to the beach was blocked. Should one wish to make the trips, beach access is available from 5 to 30 minutes away by car or truck.

As frequent travelers and campers, we are used to the warm welcomes, friendly smiles and helpful attitudes of camp staff. You will get the assistance you need at Neskowin Creek but, unfortunately, it is offered grudgingly.

Examples include when I asked if you needed a separate password for each device to connect to the internet and was told rather rudely, “well we aren’t going to give it to you free”. Another occurred during a group dinner while inquiring about where the iced tea might be and being told “right in front of you”. The container was on the counter with other containers with spigot turned inward toward the cooks. It was so unusual; the staff served people without a single smile or comment. When I returned to the serving counter after dinner and thanked the servers, not a single one of the four people working acknowledged my words. The experience was awkward at best.

WiFi is supposedly available but the repeater that serviced our area of the camp was down (or so they claimed). We were in the camp for 7 days and nothing was done to fix it. The clubhouse was the only place we could access WiFi. Further, I saw only one power strip in the large common area.

The grounds appeared shabby and unkempt with weeds and grass growing up in the gravel pads. The pads were narrow and not level. The gym was dirty and the equipment dusty and poorly maintained.

Another disappointment was the lack of even the most minimal camp store. If you forgot toothpaste or needed toilet paper, you had to drive north a short distance to a group of condos where a small store existed. If you needed a can of tomatoes for a chili recipe, well, you were just flat out of luck and would have to drive to Lincoln City or Pacific City.

There were many good things about the campground, the first being that it was family friendly. Kids can safely ride their bikes, each site has a fire pit, there is tent space nearby and there are lots of things for kids to do including a pool, shuffleboard, tennis courts, horseshoes and a nice playground. There is even space to run and fly a kite. The clubhouse had lots of games, books, a large puzzle always going and a TV area.

Another good thing was the location. There were two golf courses nearby, good restaurants in both Lincoln City and Pacific Beach and several National Wildlife Refuge areas with many photographic opportunities and lots of hiking trails. Additionally, adults can bicycle just a short distance from the park entrance to old hi way 101 which has very little traffic and is a scenic route.

The overall experience was disappointing but we will stay there again due to the plethora of things to do in the area and the fact that Neskowin Creek is a private campground and is part of the package we already own.

Springwood RV Park – Greenville, SC

Springwood RV Park is rundown. The management put me in a rundown site and there is a train that comes through the park at midnight blowing its horn. The campground is next door to a trucking terminal and there is an airport across the street.

If you need showers you have to pay $25 . You have to park on a narrow street cramped in between everybody else.
