Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park – West Yellowstone, MT

This is a wonderful facility! We live full time in our RV and have seen a wide variety of parks. Grizzy RV park is by far the best we have stayed in to date. We stayed for 10 days in a standard back-in site and 10 days in a premium pull through site.

I recommend the premium site if it’s available. They run sprinklers at night for the grass which keeps things very lush, but it also made it a bit wet when walking to the rear of our trailer (we have a rear outside kitchen). The premium site has a larger picnic table pad, as well as a sidewalk to the front of the site.

Amenities we liked above the normal:

  • Paved roads in the park, great for bikes and scooters
  • Nice playground for the kids
  • Conference room with free coffee in the morning
  • 4 Bathrooms throughout the park with Laundry in each one.
  • All newer facilities. This is a fairly new park.
  • Dryers run for 10 minutes for $.25, which is nice, you can pick however, long you want and if you don’t get right back still add 10 minutes.

As other reviews mentioned on this site, the mosquitoes are crazy, but talking with people around town, this is not normal at all. They don’t normally have mosquitoes by July.

Silver City RV Park – Silver City, NM

Silver City RV Park is in the heart of Silver City, New Mexico. The park bath house was very clean and well maintained. The Gila Wilderness Area is close by and is breathtakingly beautiful.  However… some reviews seem exaggerated, after a visit to Silver City, New Mexico one will realize this is not the case.

I do recommend south western New Mexico as a place of splendid beauty to visit, especially the Gila Wilderness Area, but my tip of the day is to avoid Silver City.

Beech Bend Campground – Bowling Green, KY

We stayed at Beech Bend Campground recently. When we checked in we were handed a map and told to park anywhere.

The map was really no help and sites numbers were difficult to see. The electric service was so bad we had to run our own generator to run our AC. The internal roads were bad and the grass needed mowing. The camp sites were very close together and the roads were very narrow. Sites had to share water hookups.

I recommend that you not waste your money here.

Maple Ridge Campground – Lakeville, IN

We went to Maple Ridge Campground for Memorial Day weekend and July 4th weekend. Me and my dad bought 3 sites for the long 4th weekend.

The campground and facilities are not bad. It’s smaller. The pavilion looks like it could fall down but otherwise it’s not bad.

On Sunday Afternoon I saw the owner arguing with a man that was leaving early and wanted a refund. She was very rude and then told me that my dog wasn’t allowed in the camp store (which is fine but she really didn’t need to have an attitude). Then she returned to yelling at this man to leave now! I let this slide because it was visible she was upset. So Tuesday came around and my dad wanted to stay another week. He paid for the week no problem. Thursday he was in the camp store buying lighter fluid and the man behind the counter told him that he had “the trashiest lot he has had his he owned the place.” Way to say thanks for spending almost $600 this weekend alone. Not including the 2 spots we bought for Memorial weekend and the people we recommended to stay there. (3 people to be exact) that did stay there. Including one that has been there 2 months now.

Needless to say we will be going elsewhere from now on. I’m just not impressed with the owners and their comments toward paying customers. It’s their place so they can run it as they wish but they will not get anymore of my money.

White Oak Campground – Quarryville, PA

White Oak is a great campground located about 4 miles south of Strasburg, Pennsylvania and in the heart of Lancaster and Amish Farms.

They have an immaculate bathhouse. The staff is very friendly. They have great prices even though there is NO pool or cable tv. There are some 50 channels available with an over-the-air antenna.  The sites are level and mostly back ins.  They have a recreation hall for large groups. There are many shaded sites throughout the park. All sites have a fire ring and picnic table.

We were here in July 2017 and enjoyed our stay.

Liberty Harbor RV Park and Marina – Jersey City, NJ

I have mixed emotions on this place. As their website says… it is an urban experience but with a great location for New York City.

There is a total of about 50 sites, all angled back-ins. The sites are long but narrow on all gravel. There is no grass or trees here. The Park has a large clean bath house. There are no sewer hookups and no cable TV. You can only get 4 spanish antenna channels unless you have a little digital tv converter box. There is an on site sports type bar with bar food which was very good. The water ferry takes you over to Wall Street where you can get other transportation to the rest of Manhatten.

We were here July 3-4-5 and the place was full. We had 95 degree weather which caused some electrical overloads on the main panel. The park also has a dump station. The staff was friendly and there is security 24 hours, a mall, the waterfront area, and other stores are within 2 miles.

North Shore Campground – Lake Almanor, CA

North Shore Campground was very nice but dusty.

The staff was friendly. They have free showers and flush toilets that are cleaned daily. It has RV hookups for water and electricity but no sewer. They will come and pump the septic on site for a small fee. Dogs have to be on a leash or there is a $100 fine. Every site is walking distance to the lake. The fishing is good. It’s a short drive to town if you need supplies.

Overall it’s a little pricey but very good quality.

Fall Hollow Campground – Hohenwald, TN

We stayed at Fall Hollow Campground while traveling the Natchez Trace parkway.

They are easy access on/off adjacent to the parkway. The campsites are level and gravel. The owners and camp host are very accommodating. We requested a picnic table and fire ring and they delivered them just minutes later.

It is very peaceful and quite here… the beautiful Creek is crystal clear and the walking trails are a nice walk with our dogs. We stayed 3 nights. The onsite restaurant is open Thursday-Saturday 4-9. The food is really good… we had the ribs and smoked meatloaf.

We will come back and enjoy the hospitality and peacefulness of the campground.

This is a very beautiful and clean campground, but be prepared for “The Rules” as the owner will ask you if you reviewed them and know them at least daily on your stay. Although they have a recreation hall, they don’t appear to cater to children.

This campground is excellent for self contained RVs, but does not have amenities close to tent sites. It has one shower house, which is quite clean (and free), but it is located at the front of the park. A long walk from most sites. If you have children, this is not the place for you, but if you are alone, and don’t mind the owner coming up to you SEVERAL times a day you will be ok. For example: If there is an empty space next to you, the owner frowns on you playing games in that spot.

Great retirement area, I guess. No noise after 11pm… and I believe he wants fires out by then also. For some this would be an ideal campground, for others, be aware of “THE RULES”.

Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort – Emerald Isle, NC

We stayed at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in Emerald Isle, NC for one night passing through from Charleston, SC to catch the Cedar Island Ferry over to Okracoke, NC. After reading reviews about some of the other campgrounds which were closer to the ferry, we opted to try this place because it seemed like it would be more scenic, secure, friendlier and not too far off our scenic coastal route along US 17.

We reserved a spot in the premium Yellow section along the beach dunes, so we could enjoy some nice scenery if even for only one night. We paid $80 + $5 (50 amp) + $5 (for pet). We were escorted to our back-in site, which offered a picnic table, no barbecue or fire ring. We unhitched our toad, parked it next to us, took out only our doormat and cooler, which sat next to our front door.

In the morning, when we were getting ready to pull out, we noticed our cooler missing. Trying to stay on schedule and meet our ferry reservation, we looked around the area quickly and did not see it; we proceeded to exit the campground. I called the office to report the incident, but at 7:30 in the morning they were closed. We stopped to hitch our toad by the office and spoke with one of the campground “Managers” who apologized for the incident and took a description of the cooler.

I called later in the day and was told that they found my cooler out on the beach and had it in the office. The owner’s assumption was that some kids must have taken the cooler out to the beach. I asked if they would UPS the cooler to my home. The owner’s reply was that she could not be responsible for every cooler that got stolen. She would not UPS the cooler back to me at her expense nor would she discount my stay for the cost of a new cooler. Apparently this park has a theft/management problem.

Days later, In contrast to this, we stayed at a park in Hickory, NC where the power went out for 3 hours during a hail storm. Voluntarily, the owner did not charge us for that night because of the inconvenience. Needless to say, I would not recommend staying at a park that has theft issues in addition to an owner that takes no responsibility for those issues and charges $90/night.
