Butterfield Ranch RV Resort – Julian, CA

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Butterfield Ranch is a really nice facility. It is located near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! The scenery, the sunsets, and the stars are spectacular!

There are programs organized for the campers – hikes, visiting musicians, BBQ’s. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Butterfield is a great place for bird-watching, horseback riding (and you can camp with your horses by the ranch corrals), hiking, biking, motorcycle riding, etc.

The Anza Borrego Desert and the Cuyamaca Mountains are close by. The campground is also near Ramona, El Centro and El Cajon.

Julian is an historic western town from the gold rush of the 1870’s. It is just 30 minutes from Butterfield Community. Don’t forget to try some of the famous Julian apple pie!

It is very quiet in the valley, and the number of cool water pool and hot tubs at the resort only add to the relaxing atmosphere. We stayed for several weeks and enjoyed our stay very much. We plan to return next year.

Magic River Campground – Long Beach, MS

We really enjoyed Magic River Campground and wish we could have stayed a few more days, but we are on a schedule to get to Florida.

There are no reservations, so we hoped we could find a spot on a Saturday. Luckily, we found a pull thru site. It was fairly level but a little muddy due to rain. It had water and 30 amp, but no sewer connection. They do have a dump station and some sites were FHU. We had no neighbors with our spot, but the other sites seemed well spaced.

There is a single private restroom/shower for the men and for the women. The women’s bathroom was pretty clean but apparently not smoke free. When my daughter and I used it, it smelled like cigarettes and there were 3-4 cigarette butts in the toilet! My husband said the men’s restroom/shower was very clean.

There is no laundry. They have a small rec room with puzzles and books. There was a telephone that looked like an old school pay phone that my kids enjoyed calling us from. There was a nice playground and community fire pit. I think there is a pool, but we didn’t see it.

There are 2 ponds and fishing is allowed. My kids and husband swore they saw an alligator in one! (They do have signs warning of alligators, so keep an eye on your kids and pets.) They have WiFi and we had about 3 bars of 4G with Verizon. We heard a couple of helicopters the first evening, but other than that it was pretty quiet.

We used our Passport America membership. If you have the time, drive Hwy 90 to some of the adjacent coastal towns!

Quiet Oaks RV Park – Kinder, LA

Quiet Oaks RV Park is a Passport America campground ($20+tax cash only for PA discount) and the amenities were what sold us on it, but it didn’t turn out as great as we hoped.

We had notified the office of our late arrival, so we were given our site number. (The traffic on I-10 from Beaumont is terrible right now due to construction) We arrived just after dark. It was a pull-thru site, so we got set up pretty quickly. It had FHU and was level.

The next morning we went to the office to register. The woman was very nice. There is a laundry room attached to the office with a few washers/dryers. There is also a change machine. There is WiFI and our Verizon signal was about 2 bars of 4G. There is a small building with a single shower room for men and one for women. It was fairly clean, but I opted to shower in our own rig. There is a small fishing pond, but we were told it only has perch. No picnic tables or fire rings. The sites are pretty close. There are trains that run nearby.

It seems that a lot of people live here. It wasn’t a terrible place, but we would probably stay elsewhere if in the area again.

Vero Beach Kamp – Sebastian, FL

This campground is the worst I’ve ever been to, beside the KOA in Casey Illinois.

We made a reservation and made a deposit of $250.00 for a five month stay while looking for a home to buy. Management knew at that time we possibly would check out early if we closed on a house. Eight weeks later we did move out. At that time I went to the office and informed them we would be checking out. I was given a form to fill out with a forwarding address where the balance of the deposit was to be returned minus the power bill.

As of today I still haven’t received the balance. After several attempts calling the office I finally got through. The woman I spoke with said she would check into it and call me back. She did not Two days later I got through to another woman who told me I wouldn’t be getting the balance because we checked out early.

About the park itself… The grass when we arrived was near a foot tall and cut after we were parked and once afterward never trimmed in the eight weeks we were there. The swimming pool advertised was closed for at least six weeks of our stay. The cable advertised was not working, the only way to find out about campground activities was through cable. The wi-fi was extremely slow and some times non existent. Lots of trucks and tractors coming through at all hours because they own some kind of construction business. The sites were very close some only less than three feet apart. Gravel sites and weeds. It does have a concrete patio. By the way the swamp nearby is a breading ground for all kinds of insects, be sure to break out the deet.

This place is not inexpensive about $760.00+ for us depending on power usage.

I hope this review is posted. I’m also going to post it on the Good Sam website. I’m very disgusted with this campground!

St Johns RV Resort – St. Johns, AZ

We spent several days and nights at this lovely park in St Johns, Arizona while we toured the Petrified Forest and also went to the Meteor Crater.

There are many Native stores in the area and it was just a wonderful stop-off location to be able to explore the area of Northeastern Arizona. We actually extended our stay longer than planned as the location was so convenient and the park, so nice.

The new owners, Christina and DJ made us feel like family and the park was so peaceful and serene. The laundry was one of the nicest we have used while RV’ing the southwest. And the rates are very reasonable, in fact they were way more reasonable than places closer to the Grand Canyon. I would suggest a stay here for anyone RV’ing near or through this part of Arizona! Happy Travels!

Heartland RV Park – Huntsville, TX

Heartland RV Park is a nice campground overall.

Passport America is accepted here. Amenities included FHU, level sites, WiFi, laundry room, playground, gameroom/gym, and showers. We didn’t use the laundry room, but the showers were clean and private. RV spaces are close but not uncomfortable. It’s pretty quiet aside from some road noise, but not really noticeable if you’re used to RV parks in general. Verizon service here is 3 bars. Heartland has a nice office staff.

Points of interest nearby are the Sam Houston Statue, Sam Houston Memorial Museum, Sam Houston State University, Sam Houston grave site, Sam Houston National Forest, Texas Prison Museum, and Huntsville State Park

Would definitely stay here again.

Juniper Lake RV Campground – Defuniak Springs, FL

We stayed at Juniper Lake RV Campground, a beautiful small lakeside campground in Defuniak Springs, Florida. The facility is only 5 minutes from Interstate 10, exit # 85.

The owners are courteous and friendly and their park is first rate with all the services a camper would want. They only have about 20 sites but, they are level, shady, and have full hookups and pull-through sites for transients with large rigs.

The local restaurants are great too. We enjoyed coffee with the owners, looking at the gardens and the beautiful deck overlooking the water. We definitely will go back!

Point South/Yemassee KOA – Yemassee, SC

Point South/Yemassee KOA is located right off of I-95 (exit 33) in South Carolina about 30 minutes from the Georgia State Line.

The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The rest rooms are clean and well maintained. Our spot was perfectly level! (which seems to be rare these days)

Our nightly rate with a KOA Discount was $60.

Winter Garden RV Resort – Winter Garden, FL

Winter Garden RV Resort is located about 30-minutes from Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
The sites are wide and deep and the staff are super friendly. Nightly Rate is $60 per night.

Here are a few tips for your stay here:

  1. Make sure you have either an EZ Pass or quick method of paying tolls. The toll system in and around Orlando is confusing.
  2. The bathrooms have “opportunities” for cleanliness so either shower in your unit or bring shower shoes.

Wilderness RV Park – Robertsdale, AL

Campground and RV Park Reviews | RVBuddy.com

Wilderness RV Park is a Coast to Coast rated 4.5. The park has many sites that are permanent residence that are junk.

The park office is the need of a real good housekeeping. There is LP gas on site but no ice machine available so you would need to go to either a gas station or a grocery store to buy ice. The on-site pool looks clean but the shelter has a tin roof with many holes in it. The entrance and exit roads to the park are full of potholes. The laundry and showers are also okay!

The sites themselves are pretty level and the electrical and sewer are okay. The Wi-Fi on the park is also okay and you can upgrade if you want faster down speeds.

The people are very friendly… no issues there.
