Skowhegan/Canaan KOA – Canaan, ME

1

Skowhegan/Canaan KOA - Canaan, MEWe visited the Skowhegan/Canaan KOA last summer for 15 nights. This is one of, if not the best campground we have ever stayed at. This is not a booming area but enough to keep you busy. You can do day trips to the coast, etc and explore the many area towns and parks.

Our hosts Don, Beth and son were OUTSTANDING!! They kept the show rolling. They have a lot of activities, very clean facilities, and a very well stocked store and game room. They need to be awarded for their work. You will get tired just watching them work so hard to make your stay a pleasure!

This is a very family oriented campground. Everyone here is very friendly. I enjoy walking on the beach. There is also a game room, basketball court, playground, and rec hall. Youngsters can play dress up, watch tv, read a book, etc.

There are all sorts of activities pot luck suppers, dances, bonfires, etc.. Looking for something to do there are flea markets just up the road. Many area restaurants, ice cream shops, stores, etc.. Or go back into Belfast to the Park.

Myself I would prefer to stay at the campground and relax. Watch the oil tankers come in. Catch a glimpse of the seals. And meet other people. If you have the opportunity stop in you won’t regret it.

Kiesler’s Campground & RV Resort – Waseca, MN

We discovered this to be a very nice family campground! They have the usual amenities including a large pool with waterslide and several excellent playgrounds for kids. The restrooms were clean and well maintained and the staff was helpful and friendly.

The campsites are gravel and relatively level but fairly close together with little or no cover between them. Many of the sites have light to medium shade. You do feel a little crowded, especially with so many kids running around and thru your campsite.

The campground is well-landscaped with lots of flowers shrubs and grass. It’s really a great family campground, and easy to get to… about 13 miles from I-35 and directly across the street from Clear lake. The campground also has own boating and fishing docks.

Kiesler’s can be an extremely busy park during the summer, especially on weekends with tons of kids! If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, you won’t find it here. If you have kids, this is an excellent campground to call home for a week or two.

Hermit Island Campground – Bath, ME

Hermit Island Campground - Bath, MaineHermit Island Campground is the best place for people who are looking to camp right on the ocean. There are plenty of campsites, which are set in the dunes by the beaches, on the buffs with ocean views, or in the peaceful forest.

Hermit Island has eight beaches for swimming, plus biking, boating, fishing, and more. The facilities at this campground are basic yet always kept clean… and when you can fall asleep after a lobster dinner by the campfire to the soft lull of the ocean, you know you have had a great vacation!

Lake George RV Park – Lake George, NY

We’ve camped at Lake George RV Park many times over the past 20 years and have a great time every time we visit. This is a true RV Destination Resort and with 400 full hook-up sites on 120 acres, it’s big! With tons of amenities, you’ll really never have to leave for something to do. The park is located on NY Route 149 just a few miles south of Lake George.

When you first enter the park you’ll notice plenty of room to park your rig while you check in. Most interior roads are paved and in good condition. While a few sites are paved, the vast majority are gravel. There are 350 sites with full hook-ups (30/50 amps). There are both wooded and open sites available.

Rainbows End RV Park – Sequim, WA

Rainbows End RV Park - Sequim, WAThis is a small, but cute RV park located along US Highway 101. Although there is a barrier fence, you will hear some road noise during the quiet hours of the late evening. The road noise doesn’t bother me, but may be an issue for someone else.

Other reviews indicate the RV spaces are “close together.” To me, the spacing between RV’s is average, about what I would expect for this type of park. I’ve been in worse for “closeness.” In some places there is 2½ feet of grass width between each RV; in others, about 5 feet of grass width.

Flatwoods KOA – Sutton, WV

Flatwoods KOA - Sutton, WVThis KOA was a great overnight stop while traveling through the area! It’s located right off Interstate 79, exit 67 in Sutton, West Virginia. For the price, it’s one of the best campground values in the area.

They have a huge outdoor amphitheater that you can walk to from your campsite. During the summer the theater has major league country entertainment. The grounds and facilities were clean and well maintained. This looks like a relatively new campground. They have WiFi which worked quite well from our site, although they do not have cable TV.

Bayley’s Camping Resort – Scarborough, ME

Bayley’s Camping Resort - Scarborough, METhis campground is made for families! Our annual summer trip to Maine often includes camping at Bayley’s Resort.

This RV resort is relatively large, with over 400 sites. You’ll find sites in wooded areas, in fields and near their pond. Depending on what area you’re in, sites can be close together or fairly private. Full hook-up are available and include cable TV. The general store is a fairly good size with a limited selection of groceries and camping supplies.

Hacienda RV Resort – Las Cruces, NM

Hacienda RV Resort - Las Cruces, New MexicoThis is a lovely campground! The facilities are clean and the property is well maintained. We camped here in our brand new fifth-wheel last weekend.

Even though many of the southwestern campgrounds we have stayed at are wide open with little privacy, this campground has some more mature vegetation between the sites which helps greatly. They do offer wi-fi but the coverage is spotty… you may have to locate yourself a little closer to the clubhouse if you want to use your laptop from your site.

Two Rivers Landing RV Resort – Sevierville, TN

Two Rivers Landing RV Resort - Sevierville, TennesseeWe just spent the last few days at Two Rivers RV Resort, a new campground located along the banks of the French Broad River in Sevierville, Tennessee.

The park has 25 large riverfront sites and 30 slightly smaller river-view sites, all nicely landscaped with level concrete pads and picnic tables. All sites are full hook-up and include cable tv. Rates for us were about $35 a night.
