I would rate Hershey Highmeadows campground a 7 out of 10. Being associated with the Hershey name, you can expect a well run, first-class operation. The campground has a good selection of amenities with 2 pools, a game room, playgrounds, basketball and vollyball, laundry facilities and a nice country store and gift shop. The interior roads and individual campsites are well maintained. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. There are some open areas and others with a good amount of shade trees.
There is a downside… the sites are a little on the small side and there is an active operating railroad that runs along one side of the property. I would definately ask for something away from the railroad tracks.
In season there is a shuttle service to Hershey Park… very convenient if you didn’t tow your own vehicle, because the park is quite a distance from the campground and I wouldn’t like to walk it. Even if you don’t want to visit the theme park, I would encourage you to take in the free chocolate tour.
We are new to camping, and visited Hershey Highmeadow. When I made the reservation, only 2 sites were left along the trainline. I highly recommend staying away from this side of the campground. We were woken several times thru the night due to the train passing by, and it blowing the horn! After the 2nd night, and the weekend was over, I asked the desk if we any other sites opened up, and thankfully 2 did. So we chose the furthest from the train, and had a great time. The bathrooms were clean and staff was great. Didn’t know to buy Hershey tickets at the campground, they give you a better deal than Giant. Free shuttle was great. Pools were great. Kids had a blast. Will def. go back, away from the train though.
We go to Hershey’s High Meadow Cmpg every yr for the last 4 yrs. We really like the amenities, shuttle service, pool, store, and friendly service. The campsites are a little on the small side but there are some that bigger. Most of the time we are there to go to the park so I haven’t really cared about the size of the space or even the trains. One time our site was on a hill near the train tracks and it is loud… but it didn’t bother us bec I turn on the air which drowns out most external noise. If you do not want to be near the trains, plan to book in advance (just like hotel beachfront requests). They also have a some nice family/kid activities when just hanging around the campg. Cheers!
