This one was a real find. Red Apple Campground was exceptional in every respect. We were looking for someplace in the Kennebunkport (Bush family summer residence) area to celebrate my wife’s Birthday. She loves the area for its quaint New England flavor and great shopping at Perkins Cove.
As we use a motorcycle for transportation, the owners offered to lend us their car to drive to an upscale restaurant for her Birthday dinner. This just capped off a wonderful stay in a beautifully maintained campground in the heart of lower coastal Maine with all it has to offer.
It is so great to hear stories regarding the friendly attitude from people in Maine. They actually loaned you a car!!!
We are from Upstate NY and the attitude here is becoming less friendly as years go by, but we have always found happiness and friendly folk in Maine. Our wedding was on a schooner from Rockland and it was perfect. The crew of the Victory Chimes delivered service above and beyond the call of duty. We later RV’d along Route 1 to enjoy Maine from the landlubber point of view and found nothing but happy, friendly people. In 2006 we wandered the mountains of Maine and found the same thing. There must be something in the water.
