What a nice couple that owns this place! And a nice place. Holbrook KOA is clean, friendly, and right off of I-40, and with wifi, decent cable, and some shaded sites.
The campground is an hour and a half west to the Grand Canyon (and don’t miss Meteor Crater on the way), and it’s less than an hour to Petrified Forest and Painted Desert (both to the east).
If you like pancakes, try the “all you can eat” in the morning… we missed it, but were probably the only campers who didn’t enjoy breakfast.
Went here on the return trip home/east, and wanted to add two comments: man, the owners sure are nice, and there\’s a pleasant woman who sets up a Native American arts and crafts table by the breakfast area, and be sure to buy a piece of petrified wood for your garden plus a silver necklace or bracelet for your sweetheart (or as a gift to yourself). We picked up two colorful pieces of petrified wood, plus a nice silver bracelet for twenty-five bucks. Also, when you leave, heading east, go through town and head down 180. Enter Petrified Forest National Park (10 bucks for a car/van/RV) and do it in the early morning. Beauftiful and you\’ll be by yourself most of the time. Or, heading west, go visit Meteor Crater (site of the biggest meteor crater on Earth), which is about 45 minutes west and six miles south (clearly marked); 15 bucks a head to walk up to it, but worth it; trust me.
