We wanted an RV park that was close to Yosemite National Park where we could have full hookups and be close to “civilization”, while still having a “camping experience” (we hate RV parks that are giant asphalt lots) with grass, picnic tables, and fire rings. High Sierra fit the bill perfectly.
The Fresno River runs right through the park, so you can reserve a “riverside” site where you can nose into the site and have a view out your windshield of the river. Our site was a really nice back-in on the hill overlooking the river… right near the office (which made getting an early cup of coffee, or some “treats” after dinner, really easy).
It was also easy to do day trips into Yosemite National Park… High Sierra is about 15 miles from the South Entrance. And oakhurst is a good size town, with lots of services, restaurants, shops, and other amenities to choose from, without being too big.
The park manager, Cathy, was a lot of fun. She’s very nice, very friendly, and really knowledgeable about the area and the things to do. Actually, all of the staff were the same. Everyone we talked to really seemed to enjoy their job… a real rarity these days (guess Cathy’s as much fun to work for as she is to talk to!).
We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to experience Yosemite National Park without having to jump through hoops to make a reservation.
