Lake Huron is a very large and modern campground. They have 395 sites, but there are a lot of open spaces during the week. I’ve heard on holiday weekends it fills up, but otherwise it’s not very crowded.

The campground has a general store, arcade, heated pool and a nice size lake with a beach area. There are also cabins to rent on the other side of the lake. They have weekend planned activities, mostly for the kids, but they had a Murder Mystery Weekend while we were there, which was fun for the adults too. They also have basketball, volleyball, horseshoes and a playground for the kids. Mini-golf is on site and open to the public, as is the Pizza Cafe and the ice cream shop.

This site is gated (need a code to get in), which we liked. It is one of the cleanest campgrounds we have been in, and the restrooms were a surprise; slate floors, redwood benches in the heated showers. Very nice details. Same with laundry areas.

It’s a little out of the way, a good half hour north of Port Huron and an hour and a half from Detroit, but it was an enjoyable discovery. Glad we stopped here and plan to go back later in the fall.

We camped at Lehman’s RV Resort this Labor Day Weekend and had a great time!

This is a nice friendly park, and the owners could not have been nicer. It rained but we were not flooded. The grounds were clean, neat and quiet. We will positively go back. We camped in a 35 ft motor home. Had full hook up and not only did they lead us to our site they made sure our hook ups were in line to where we could hook up easily without our getting out of the motor home.

They also had a great pancake breakfast!

The Oakdale KOA is a beautiful campground. But more than that… we were treated exceptionally well by the staff when we pulled in with RV problems. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us and direct us to a repair shop.

The campground has 76 sites, 48 full hookups, 12 W/E, 8 E, and 6 no hookup. There are 34 pull through sites, a separate tenting area, a laundry, and a small campstore. There’s also a dump station, showers and FREE Wi-Fi.

There’s lots of things to do here too… they have swimming pools, a heated pool, a playground, Bocce ball, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, a recreation hall, a pavilion, a game room/arcade, a jumping pillow, and hiking trails. They also have planned activities including pancake breakfasts and ice cream socials.

It’s really a fun place to stay, with plenty of things to do for the kids!

Hidden Ridge is a relatively new resort campground in Hopkins, Michigan, right off US Route 131 (exit 59). The park features full hook ups, paved interior roads, fishing in several ponds, a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, playground, and enormous log clubhouse. In the pool area are very, very clean private showers, restrooms and a laundry. The sites are all paved with fire rings and picnic tables. The entire campground is manicured and very well maintained. Each of the ponds has a fountain.

The management is extremely friendly and accomodating. In the summer they have planned activities every weekend for every age group (i.e. live Bluegrass music, ice cream sundaes by the pool, etc.). The down side? There are very few shaded sites available. There is also just one set of dumpsters near the office at the entrance and no other trash containers besides the small ones at the pool area. No pop ups, tents, and nothing over 10 years old without management approval (however, we saw a couple of older, well maintained motorhomes).

We have stayed there twice and have enjoyed it. Our children love the pool and riding their bikes. The ponds are stocked so every child is a successful fisherman (catch and throw back)! We plan on going back frequently! Here’s their website address: www.hiddenridgerv.com

The Oaks Resort is located in the Beautiful Waterloo Recreation Area between Jackson and Grass Lake minutes off the I-94.  The campground was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and were willing to help with any problems.

They have a swimming and a fishing pond, ice cream, a basketball court (half court), a miniture golf course, a softball/baseball area, and much more.

We were very pleased with our stay!

We came to Apple Creek Campground earlier this summer for the first time. We heard they we under new ownership in the last 10 years. We were impressed. It was like going up north without spending all the gas money.

Their event weekends are a blast. We came back multiple times. We went to their Halloween weekend and it was unbelievable. I tell all of our camping friends about Apple Creek. It is a fun, yet quiet, family atmosphere.

My family has been coming to Neshonoc Lakeside Camp Resort for years because of the nice facilities.

They have two well maintained pools and clean rest rooms and showers. Golf carts are available to rent by the day. However, on our last stay there was an unfortunate incident. The new manager arrived at our cabin in a golf cart at sunset, and informed us that our son and his friend were misbehaving on their skateboards. We apologized and let her know that we would lock up the skateboards and they wouldn’t be used for the remainder of the stay. She was quite confrontational and insistent on confiscating the boards or have us evicted.

It was very surreal, especially when she involved a county deputy to enforce the eviction. At that point we handed her the boards. Needless to say, it put quite a damper on our family reunion. It was the most unprofessional thing we had ever witnessed.

We stayed at Glen Ullin Memorial Park Campground recently. It’s a small campground with 30 amp service, some water hookups and a dump station with vault toilets.

They have a large log cabin available to rent for events and receptions of any kind. The property also has a very nice creek running thru it. Rates are very reasonable too.

Lebanon Hills is a full service county park located just south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and actually across the road from the Minnesota Zoo.

This is an excellent camping facility. They have very nice sites for all size rigs and also a tent area. The campground is convenient to the Mall of America, the Minneapolis Zoo, a baseball park and downtown… It’s just off I-35E. They have small store as part of office with really clean restrooms and showers. Firewood for sale too. This is a great campground if you are going to the Minnesota State Fair.

They have reasonable prices too. We camped here in our 28′ travel trailer and loved it. I recommend it.

A Prairie Breeze RV park is a campground primarily for overnighters. It is not a park you would spend a weekend or a few days at. There are no facilities here… no restrooms, laundry, recreation or activities. However, the property is clean and well maintained.

The park is small, with about 40 sites and all of them are large, full hook-up pull-thrus. Prairie Breeze is located about 20 miles east of Bismark in the town of Menoken and conveniently located right off I-94, exit 170.
