This a warning for anyone looking into this campground. We were booked in for two days and had to cancel 48 hours prior due to unprecedented rainfall and flash flood warnings for the area.

This campground is next of a large reservoir and our sites were on the lake. When checking with the grounds keeper 48 hours prior to our camping reservations, we were told, “there is some flooding in the campgound, but your site is “safe” at present. The northeast had received over 14 inches of rain over an 8 day period. The cancellation policy is 7 days in advance in writing. We had no way of knowing the rain would last 8 days with flood warnings posted. This campground refused to reimburse our money under these extentuating circumstances. They put money and profit over safety of their campers.

When checking with the local chamber of commerce, I was told there was a lot of road damage in that area and was surprised this campground was taking such a hard stance. Now I wouldn’t mind, but we were booked for mid October, not the height of season. These were extenuating circumstances, yet we lost our prepaid reservations. Beware those of you out there if you’re thinking about using this campground in the future.

I spent 2 days there in July of 06 and had the same problem with getting a refund. They are a penny wise but a dollar foolish. I will never go there again.

We recently stayed at a campground in the Southern Tier of NY that suffered extreme flood damage when a dam was opened by mistake. The owners honored my reservation at a deep discount because the cable, laundry, and telephone were destroyed. The owners were so worried I would cancel my reservation. They took extra care to make sure we were comfortable and I stayed for nearly a month watching them rebuild from the damage. I even helped a little bit.

It\’s sad to hear that a campground took your money and offered nothing in return. I hope to someday own a campground, and what you described is exactly the shoddy…shady operation I will never have. I will also never visit a facility that has done such a disservice to a paying customer.

Massachusetts is not known for a kind attitude. There are a few private parks we enjoy there, but we mostly use State Campgrounds when needed because of good pricing and good attitude. No hook-ups, but who cares!
