Wells Beach Resort is located right on busy US Route 1 in the heart of the popular Maine southern coastal area. Tucked away on a relatively small parcel of property are over 200 sites.
Traveling up busy US Route 1 Wells Beach Resort may be a bit difficult to spot… just keep your eyes pealed for the McDonald’s, the campground entrance is located right next to it.
The campground is as neat as a pin, nicely landscaped but a bit cramped. Our full hookup, pull-thru site left just enough room to extend our awning. After a walk thru the park, we noted just about all the sites were fairly small. But, in defense of Wells Beach Resort, most of the campgrounds we’ve seen in this neck of the woods really pack ‘em in.
There were a number of things that we really loved about Wells Beach Resort… you can walk to a number of restaurants (McDonald’s, KFC, pizza, supermarkets), shopping (factory outlet stores), and entertainment (7 screen movie theatre). You can even walk to the beach (but it is a bit of a hike). The campground has a very nice themed miniature golf course, a heated pool, 2 playgrounds a rec field and a store carrying groceries and camping supplies. The campground is also on the area’s summer trolly service route.
This is a busy campground in the middle of a busy tourist area, but if you’re looking for location and amenities within walking distance, this is the nicest campground in the area.

Things to be aware of they charge for everything including a $10 early entrance fee even if you are only 50 minutes early. $10 per person over 2 is also enforced. Lastly, if you are booking with friends. Don’t count on being together even if you have confirmation to that fact. We were a 10 minute walk from our camping friends. And the office manager (Elaine) was the rudest person we have ever met at a campground.

Inresponse to Talpert 3/23/08. I work at WBRC and yes, we do charge an early check in fee of $10 between 12-1pm. This is due to a check out time of 11am and a short span of time to clean ALL sites, mow and deliver goods to the campground without interuption. Our campground is small. Many campgrounds I have stayed in have a much later check in time and early arrival fee. We NEVER, EVER quarantee that people will be with their friends. WE guarantee a site only and try to honor as many requsts as possible. Our prices are based on 2 people per site and we charge $7 per person thereafter over the age of 4. All prices and rules are posted on our web site and stated at time of reservation. All email confirmations also state our rules, rates, and cancellation policy. People who chose NOT to be aware of our policies are not listeners or don’t read or choose not to be aware. If you acquaint yourself with the rules of the campground you are visiting your stay will be a pleasant one and there will be NO surprises. Not all campgrounds are for all people. I think our resort is top notch and I have stayed in plenty crisscrossing the US. When people review campgrounds please have your facts correct.
