We stayed here this past summer in our new 38′ motorhome and loved it.

The park is easy to get to because it’s fairly close to the Interstate highway (I-40), but there are woods that block any views and noise. The campground owners are friendly and helpful. The property and facilities were clean and well maintained. Individual sites were large with plenty of space in between. Interior roads were gravel.

There wasn’t much in the way of activities for the kids, but they do have a playground, swimming and tennis. They also have a small convenience store, laundry facilities and free Wi-Fi.

The campground has a small “catch and release” fishing pond with bass, catfish, and blue gill. Also a pool and small campstore were on-site.

If you like shopping, Lebanon is considered the “Antique City of the South” and there is also a new “Outlet Village of Lebanon” just a short drive away. There are 13 different shopping centers and malls in the area.

We plan on returning to Countryside next summer when we can spend some time expoloring the area. Nice campground, conveniently located and reasonably priced!

The park is located in old Avon Village away from all the hustle and bustle of Hwy. 12. The sites are large with full hook ups (50amp service) & free cable TV. It is very quiet and clean and the campers are all repeats and its like one big family.

The park gave a fish fry pot luck and it was great! No pool or game room just a really nice park. The owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The campground is clean and well kept. We have already made our reservations for this fall.

Great park and very reasonable rates, within walking distance to the beach, Avon Pier, shopping and restaurants. Fishing was great and all the campers gathered round the campfire to exchange fish tales. Sands Of Time Campground comes highly recommended. We loved it!

If you arrive at Riverside State Park from the north, you will travel via Nine Mile Road. If you arrive from the south, you will travel via Government Way. Both routes are marked with enough signs to get you there. I used the Government Way route, and my initial reaction when entering the road to the State Park was, “you have got to be kidding.”

The road via this route is paved; however, it’s a very narrow, winding road for about 4 miles. If you are driving toward the park on this road, you are driving along a very tall rocky earth berm with a very tiny “might as well not exist” shoulder area. If you are driving away from the park on this road, well, make sure all of your wheels are inside the road lane and don’t go over the edge or you will go over the bank and into the river (not much shoulder area on that side, either). At about two miles in, there is a water reclamation site. Employees of the reclamation site park their cars precariously along the side of the highway, so you have to be careful through that section, especially if another car is coming the other way. If you are familiar with Spokane, I recommend getting yourself to the north part of Spokane, then travel along Francis Avenue, which goes into the Nine Mile Road route.

The non-utility sites are on the upper campground. The utility sites are all on the river (except for Site #5). When I initially made my reservation, Site #5, which is across the road from the river, was the only one available. This site is located in a very inconvenient spot. It’s a “pull-through,” but you have to make a very tight, almost a U-turn, to be able to “pull-through.” I missed the turn, and ended up backing into it. (Don’t take this site unless you are desperate to stay there and it’s the only one left.) Also, you are allowed one RV and one tow vehicle. I didn’t tow a vehicle, but I subsequently rented a car from Enterprise Rental Car. The Park Ranger told me this was ok, as it was within the “one allowed vehicle” limit, but the Camp Host told me that since I didn’t “tow” the car in, but instead, got the car AFTER the fact, it was considered an “extra vehicle” and I would have to pay an “extra vehicle” fee.

Other park staff personnel finally assured me that the rental car was ok. Snafus and terror driving aside, this is a beautiful park, and the sites on the river are the best. You get a somewhat spacious area where there is a picnic table and fire ring. There is also plenty of space to pitch an additional tent. The shower token machines were broken, so showers were FREE this week. YAY! The showers weren’t sparkling, but they were passable, I recommend that you wear shower shoes.

The park ranger makes a drive through the park every night between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and when storms were coming up (and there was a big one that night!), the ranger stopped and mentioned it to those who had their awnings out. There is also a picnic area, and hiking area. Lastly, the Enterprise Rental Car office on Francis Avenue told me they get a small, but steady amount of business from people who stay at the State Park. However, be forewarned that if you use this option, you may run into the “extra vehicle” snafu……

There was so much to see and do in the area without driving out of our way. The park is on the intercoastal waterway and our site was a premium one that faced the water and the marina. Fishing was the best right from the marina.

They really have a gem of a rv park. We will be back with family and friends to follow. This would be a great snowbird distination.

We were a little disappointed when we arrived at Bar Harbor RV Park. The wi-fi did not work throughout the campground and apparently it hasn’t for a long time and the owners just don’t seem to care.

This campground must have been amazing 20 years ago, but time and lack of proper care has taken a toll on this facility. The bathhouses were not well maintained, the grass was thigh high and things were basically just falling apart… overgrown flower beds etc.

The people running this park were nice and helpful but when you had a problem with something they went into a defensive mode for some strange reason. It seems they take in the profits but are reluctant to invest back into the park.

Overall camping on the Bush river was beautiful and we had a great time but I just wish the park was better maintained.

Our stay at West Yellowstone KOA should have been a great family vacation but it turned into a nightmare. We spent the previous nights at the KOA in Great Falls and had a fine experience but this place is run like a concentration camp.

We were told be quiet BEFORE quiet hours began at 10PM. We were told to put out our small marshmallow campfire without an explanation. We were harassed by the managers and security from the start of the trip. When we voiced our concerns to the owner they responded with insults and threats to forcibly kick us out.

PROS: We were not forced into involuntary slave labor

CONS: Early forced bed times, poor shower pressure, dirty bathroom/showers, over chlorinated pool, rude staff, We were not escorted to out assigned spot (typical KOA protocol), and night fees even with discount card.

If I were to go to West Yellowstone again I would stay at one of the MANY other available campgrounds. If you are a glutton for punishment and do go to this KOA, good luck, and be sure to bring numbers of other campgrounds when you find out how rude they are for yourself!

My adult son and I spent five July 2008, nights camping in a tent at Fort Custer State Recreation Area between Battle Creek and Augusta, Michigan.

We arrived about three days after rain, but the mosquitoes remained active. I am quite allergic to mosquito bites so each evening, I had to change to jeans and long sleeves to reduce my exposure. Even with a strong fire and several citronella candles, we couldn’t rid our campsite of the pesky bugs.

Finally, off to a shopping center I went for a screen room. The final two evenings I enjoyed the campfire and my evening meal with far fewer mosquitoes having their dinner at my expense.

The park is very large. Several lakes offer fisherpersons great hopes. Alas, the week we were there, few people caught fish in the areas we tried. Mostly, we drowned worms and expectations equally. Still, the quiet and the peace of fishing was great.

Interior roads are paved. Campsites are spacious and separated by trees and bushes, the source of all the mosquitoes. The walk to the bath area is quite long, and we used the pit toilet several times just to avoid the long walk. We typically drove to the bath house for showers because of the distance.

Another negative is the small bath house which has fewer showers than needed on a busy weekend. Our loop had about 100 campsites yet only five showers were available for all of us to use. The showers were very good, however, and we had no problems washing.

Once we had the screen room, we were much more comfortable. Camping in a hard wall camper would be enjoyable at this park, but without the hard walls, the screen room was a necessity.

I wish Michigan could spend just a little more on signage to help campers locate their parks. For out of state visitors, the path to a park isn’t always easy to find.

Employees at this park were very friendly and helpful. Give them a high score for making us feel welcome.

The park rates a 5 out of 10. I loved the park, but I hated the mosquitoes.

I had originally intended to go to Omak, but I passed Riverbend RV Park on the way and it was quite a find! Other parks in the area were booked full, so I was quite surprised that this park had a few spots open, to include spots right on the river! On a Friday night in August!

There were plenty of shade trees. It was quite peaceful, and just what I needed. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. I had space #9. It’s the best river spot, as there are no trees to obstruct your view. But the down side to space #9 is on weekends, people will walk in front of your RV to get to the river. Oh well. There is also a tent area in the back of the park, along the river. There is also a covered pavilion with a propane grill for group events. For families with children, there is a play area in the back of the park.

Check in was great, I got a personal escort to my sight. Normally you get that in more “extravagant” parks. I noted a sign that said “wireless available.” Guess what, it was FREE! A bonus, as I was not expecting ANY wireless service in this part of the state (valley surrounded by Cascade Mountains). The wireless is locked down with a code to prevent people not staying at the park from using it.

The rate I am showing is the rate for a river spot before Good Sam discounts. Twisp and Winthrop, which are both great “tourist” places, are close by. However, if you have only a bicycle for transportation, well, Highway 20 is pretty busy.

The women’s restroom was clean and acceptable. The park charges 75 cents for a 7 and a half minute shower. The laundry room close to my spot was small with three washers, two dryers, and a deep sink. Outside this laundry room there is a sink for cleaning fish. There is another, nicer, larger laundry room with a library at the back of the park. At $2 for wash and $1.50 for drying (45 minutes), the laundry prices were a bit steep.

The park does not have cable, but you can get the networks and PBS over the antenna. In reading the rules, this park charges a “guest charge”($5 per) for daytime guests, and they must leave by 10:00 PM. Not an issue for me as I was not expecting guests, but thought this should be mentioned. The park rules also state that you will be charged an “early check in” fee if you come before 2:00. I don’t know if this is enforced, as I noticed during my weekend stay that other RV’s came in before 2:00.

This park had some “park models” and mobile homes with permanent residents, but still had plenty of spots for overnighters. My cat had a medical emergency and the owners let me have “in and out ” privileges during my stay, as I don’t tow a car. Lastly, I do want to mention the wonderful vet in Twisp (Valley Veterinary), who came in on a Saturday to handle my cat’s medical emergency.
