Fox Fire Resort is a big-rig friendly RV park with paved interior roads and large, level sites. The resort is located on US Route 60, just off I-64 at exits 28, 3 miles west of Milton, WV.

The resort includes RV camping with 117 full hook-up sites equipped with 30 & 50 amp electric. Activities include fishing, a really nice waterslide, a spray ground, swimming pools, a jacuzzi, paddle boats, kayaks, putt golf, tennis, basketball, volleyball and holiday entertainment. They also offer hot air balloon rides!

Sites are of average size, mostly in the open but some do have shade. The sites in the back are closer to the Interstate so you will hear a little highway noise. Milton is a nice area and there are several thing to see and do while camping here. The facilities here were clean and well maintained and the staff was friendly.

Fox Fire Resort is a nice campground, although it’s a little expensive. None the less, we would camp here again if we were visiting the area.

I recommend that you just say “No Way to KOA”.  I had a bad experience starting from the turn off at the entrance.

I experienced rude and disrespectful employees at the registration office, a noisy campsite with I-64 and Route 60 and a train track, workers staying in the park starting up their trucks at 4:30 AM, and an unlevel site they finally managed to park us on.

I don’t think that this campground is worth the money ($38.00++). Did I mention there was no cable? The campsite was clean and they did have full hook-ups. I didn’t get the feeling that this KOA had much of a “family atmosphere”… it was more of a work camp atmosphere.

Next time we travel this area we will probably go to another campground nearby. At least you don’t have the Interstate trucks passing by all night. We travel in a large motorhome and getting around in this park is tight. This is just my opinion and as the owner said if you don’t like it then you can leave.

Dallas Pike Campground is located off Exit 11 on Interstate 70 in West Virginia. They have a permanent section and a temporary section. The front permanent section looks easy to get into and is close to the office. The temporary section is up the hill and very cumbersome to drive to, rutted road. Let’s say, I held my breath.

The manager was very nice and led in front of me to show me which spots I could choose from. The temporary area is quite rustic, despite having full hookups. Lots of trees, great shade. Sites are far from being level. The sites were so unlevel, let’s just say, I didn’t even bother putting down my stablizers. I had trouble with my cable connection, wouldn’t work. So, the owner and someone in the next spot over helped to get it working. Let’s just say, you don’t want to know how they got it working.

The manager knew I was traveling alone and didn’t have a tow car and said if I needed anything, they would get it for me. The manager is willing to do anything to help you out. I thought that $32 was a bit pricey, but this may be average for this area, and since it was July 4th time, beggars can’t be choosers. The manager told me that a shopping area was about half a mile away, but I didn’t check this out. I just stayed put in my RV for three days, after holding my breath to get up the rutted road. The manager said it’s ok to unhook and go in and out if needed. This is ok for an overnight, but wouldn’t use if for a destination. It was pretty quiet during my stay.

I must tell you about Lake Stephens Campground… we fell in love with this place. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and the park has a great layout.

Lake Stephens Campground is about 9 miles from the town of Beckley. The campground is part of Lake Stephens Park, a 2300 acre County operated complex with a 300 acre mountain lake surrounded by 2000 acres of hardwood forest. It’s located in the heart of the Southern West Virginia Coal Country.

The campground is a fairly good size, with about 100 full hook-up RV sites and 30 tent sites. There is a nice campstore, located near the entrance, with a good selection of groceries and camping supplies including ice, wood, and propane. Amenities include a shower house, playground area and basketball court. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are large enough to accommodate your RV plus parking for two vehicles.

Lake Stephens Campground is open year-round. We’ve camped here several times and plan on going back this summer. I can’t wait!

WOW! What a peaceful place to stay. Pegasis Farm Campground is very close to town, but it feels like you are way out in the country.

Mark and Bonnie are two of the most genuine people you will meet. They are the real deal. Don’t expect glitz and glamor, but do expect peace and tranquility. This is the place you need to stay when you need a break from the rat race of the world. You will feel like you are visiting friends.

This KOA was a great overnight stop while traveling through the area! It’s located right off Interstate 79, exit 67 in Sutton, West Virginia. For the price, it’s one of the best campground values in the area.

They have a huge outdoor amphitheater that you can walk to from your campsite. During the summer the theater has major league country entertainment. The grounds and facilities were clean and well maintained. This looks like a relatively new campground. They have WiFi which worked quite well from our site, although they do not have cable TV.

The interior roads are paved and the sites are gravel. Each site has a small concrete pad with a picnic table. Each site also had a fire ring and pedestal grill. Pull-thru sites were relatively wide but some of the roads were a tight squeeze with a larger rig.

We would stay here again if ever in the area. It was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.

Rifrafters is a very small campground about 2 miles south of the New River Gorge Bridge, just off US Route 19 in Fayetteville, West Virginia. While the campground itself has few amenities it’s right in the middle of the New River Gorge vacation area… with eighteen rafting outfitters, countless restaurants and several recreation areas only a few minutes from your site!

The campground facilities are a little old but clean and well maintained. They have a small pavilion and a cozy little campstore, complete with front porch and rocking chairs. Sites are level, gravel and average in size. Nice place. Clean, quiet, and reasonably priced.
