I stayed at the Moab KOA in Utah during the Memorial Day weekend. Upon arrival, I asked if it was possible to extend our reservation by another night. A lady named Joyce from Ohio told us that they were full, but to check in at 7:30am the next morning to see if there were any cancellations. I told her I would.

Next my wife who is hearing impaired went to purchase postcards. She came out of the office crying. I asked what was wrong and she stated she was treated badly by the lady at the desk. I went inside and found out it was Joyce that had treated her so bad. I did not say anything.

This morning, I went to see if there were any cancellations at 7:30am. Again Joyce was there and this time had a terrible attitude. I asked if there were any cancellations and she rudely said no. I then stated that campsite #17 was unoccupied last night and was there a chance that it would be unoccupied tonight. Again in a very rude manner told me that the people that had reservations did not show up and that even if there was a cancellation, that there was a waiting list. I asked her why she had me get up and be there at 7:30am if there was a waiting list and I would not have gotten a campsite in any case.

My wife and I are avid campers. We have camped many times at KOAs and had been considering becoming a value card member before this incident. In the world where the competition for business is so high it is very unusual to be treated so badly by an employee. I realize that each KOA is independently owned, but such a person reflects poorly on KOA as a whole.

My wife and I will surely think twice before we make reservations at a KOA again and will absolutely not be staying at the Moab, UT KOA again.

They have a great staff, nice store, big pool, free wi-fi, and pull-thru sites with full hookups. The sites are spacious with level gravel spots and a table with grass and some shade. There’s even an RV wash next door… everything one could want in a park!

KOA staff can book you on a city tour or a free shuttle to see Temple Square. There is a state park behind the campground that has miles of riverside trails for biking or walking. Rates are a little on the high side… we paid almost $50 a night for a deluxe site.

Our stay was in mid August of 2009 for three nights. We had a 31 foot class C and a full size SUV as a separate vehicle. I rate this park a 4 1/2 out of 5. The RV area was typically a bit tight, but not as much as some. There were not as many people around during our stay. There were many trees and grass at the pull through sites. I recommend paying just a couple dollars more and getting one of their premium sites. It was just big enough for our RV and vehicle with no overhang, about 45 feet total. We paid $155 for three nights and 6 people.

The place was clean and the staff was friendly. The bathroom seemed clean and had air conditioning. We used the laundry room, and that went fine. There is a free garbage pick-up before 9 AM outside your RV. We had cable TV with limited channels. The wireless internet worked fine. The park itself is not right on the highway, but a little ways away. It was quiet enough.

Please remember I rate this place a 4 1/2 out of 5. I will make some additional comments however. We came in at about 10 PM in the pitch dark. I almost missed the place but I saw a lighted billboard at the last minute. It looks like you are pulling into a construction zone or gravel yard. However the campground proper is quite nice for a typical RV park with full hookup.

If you have kids, especially older ones, there is nothing to do. The RV park is north of town, so they can’t go take a walk and get ice cream. There is no pool, which I think is quite big now that we spent 3 days in Moab. However, temperatures were 10 degrees below normal for us. There is no game room and the camp store is extremely small. Mostly soda and ice cream. The Colorado River was adjacent to the park, but there was no safe place to throw tubes in unless you have a rope to keep from drifting. The tributary stream was just mud.

If I had very young kids or mostly grown ups I would stay here again. It is a quiet place for your wife to get some sleep. If I had older kids I might brave one of the noisier parks to the south that have a pool, activities, and town nearby.

This review is for the Cottonwood Campground, with full hookups. The good news is, the park has free WiFi! The bad news is…. I couldn’t get it from site #36. However, Verizon Aircard worked very well.

This is very fancy for a state park! Each site has got a barbecue grill, fire ring, and a pavilion covered picnic table on a concrete patio! WOW! A “covered” picnic table! At each site! I couldn’t believe it! On the other hand, there were a lot of mosquitoes during my visit, probably because of the proximity of the lake.

At this State Park, you get “convenience to the freeway,” but you put up with road noise. The pads are all asphalt and there is a good deal of spacing between RV slots. The pull-throughs are very wide arcs. There was one thing I didn’t like. The water spout and electric post were located in such a way that you had to cross your water hose and electric cord over the top of the sewer hose. But this may be due to the configuration of my RV and maybe wouldn’t affect other RV’s.

This is a great relaxing place to overnight while traveling through northern Utah.

Riverside Oasis is 1.5 miles from the Arches National Park. Good location, you can easily ride your bike to the Arches if you are energetic. However, this RV park is best suited for campers, travel trailers, popups, and smaller Class C’s (in addition to tents). Although I saw a few larger Class A’s here, it’s a tight fit for them.

The “back-ins” are best for campers. I have a 32 foot Class C with a carrier on the back for my scooter, and the “pull-through” I had was… well… let’s just say, I PRAYED that no one would “clip” my front end or back end while they were driving in the driving area… and I also prayed that I could exit my space without “clipping” the truck parked cross-wise in front of the travel trailer next to me!

Road noise wasn’t bad, but there was “construction noise” early in the morning from a crane that is working on a construction project nearby. There is about five feet width of grass between each space. Enough room for the picnic table that each site had. Cable was great, 70 channels (all analog). Wi-Fi worked ok, was a little slow at times. It was free, but it was from Tengo, and you had to work around the initial “sign up for a Tengo account” screen. A little misleading.

There is a pay phone in case your cell phone doesn’t work. The laundry room is open only between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Restrooms/showers were clean. On the outside of the main building is a stainless steel “deep sink” if you need. There was a sign that said “Pets, $5 fee.” I mentioned that I had a cat. I was told, “Cats don’t count.” Well, then the sign should say “Dog fee” not “Pet Fee.”

This is a good place to stay if you want to visit the Arches National Park.
The current name of the motel you are supposed to look for is “M-6 Inn.” Whatever… However, there is a clearly marked sign indicating that there is an RV park behind the motel. I was following a Good Sam Trip Routing that I had made (headed to New Mexico), and I assumed (silly me) that this was somewhere near Interstates 84 or 15. Wrong, Logan is 20 miles away from the freeway. Oh well.

During the winter months, the office is not open on weekends. If you need to stay on a weekend, phone ahead and the manager will tell you what spot to pull into. I arrived around 5:00 PM on a Saturday and planned to stay two nights. The manager was very helpful but didn’t want to take payment until the next morning. The next morning, the manager didn’t seem too concerned about coming after me for my payment, as I sort of had to “hunt them down.” But it didn’t take long, and I made my payment for the two nights.

By the way, all the spots are pull-through! There is decent spacing between RV’s except for the “side by side” slots, where two RV’s share a post. Fortunately, at the time I was there, “side by side” wasn’t a problem as the park wasn’t full. Beautiful view of the mountains that surround the area!

The park is located in the more “rural” part of Logan, there is a horse farm next door. Laundry and showers were clean. Little bit of road noise at night, but not bad. Cable has only the networks and one C-Span channel. Couldn’t get WiFi to work the first night, but it could have been due to the electrical storm that came through. WiFi worked great the next day!

This is a good overnight stop on your way to somewhere, if you don’t mind being 20 miles from the freeway.

They have excellent facilities including a phone hookup at every site.

The management and staff are friendly, competant and are always helpful.

I’ve spent the last 6 winters at Zion River Resort. The snowbirds are friendly and helpful to each other. The winter climate is temperate equivalent to autumn in the northeast. The sites are large with long pull throughs. They have reasonable winter rates for a park of this caliber.

I’ve been full timing for 12 years and this is the nicest park I’ve encountered.

While visiting in North Salt Lake city we stayed at the Pony Express RV Resort. While the mountains were beautiful the camp ground was far that.

The poor attitude of the management sent us down the road to the next camp ground “toot sweet”. I felt like they didn’t like kids, pets, or full-time campers. They are called an “RV Resort” but they have 140 concrete pads on the corner of 2 major express ways… not the kind of camping a full-timer would like anyway.

The campground had no shade trees and limited grass areas. They seem to be working out some “opening” growing pains and have several issues with electricity. Maybe if they work through there growing pains they would be acceptable one day but right now I would rather go to one of the other SLC area campgrounds…

Just my “two cents”. But in any case… gotta love those mountains! “Camping is God’s way of showing us his Masterpieces”
