Let me start out by saying unfortunately, my friends are not going to allow me to ever pick a place to camp for us again. It was me who suggested this campground to my sister and friends, mainly because it was the only one I could find that could accommodate their 28 ft camper and our pop up and still place us side by side.

We were celebrating my daughters 11th birthday with her cousins who came up from Florida (We are from Virginia). The day after we arrived to the campground, we found that management was very rude. Our children were playing in the grass with our friends dog, when management came out and yelled “Girls, Girls… get off the grass with that dog. No dogs are allowed on the grass.” The area where the children were playing with the dog, had absolutely no signs stating that dogs or people were not allowed. Even the campsite map had a list of rules, but this was not one of them. In other words, there was no way for us to know that playing on the grass was not allowed. It was very embarrassing, since everyone in the surrounding camp area heard and ran out to see why they were upset. Their website says that they provide a large area for the young at heart. We had 4 little girls with us, ages 5, 7, 11 and 11 who were having a great time, however after this incident, everyone in our group felt a bit uneasy. All the kids kept asking if we could please leave, they were all worried about what they were and were not allowed to do in the campground, since playing on the grass with the dog caused such a problem.

In regards to the Greenbriar Island website, it does not show many pictures. I feel that is because all the facilities are run down and poorly managed. The main office picture speaks for itself. Half of the bathroom stalls were out of order, the trash needed to be taken out. It cost a quarter to dry your hands and to get 6 minutes of water for the shower. The soap dispenser was also dirty. I’ve been camping a lot and I’ve seen some bad bath houses, this one would have to be on my bad bathhouse list. If you still decide to camp here bring flip flops.

So, needless to say after that we packed up and left that day. Fortunately we were able to find a campground that had one opening, so we left and our friends stayed. The only nice thing that happened at Greenbriar Island was that they did give our friends both nights free. Which was great . We on the other hand went and camped at another campground, it cost twice as much, but was the nicest RV Park we had ever been to. It was classier, cleaner and nicer. Honestly,  if this was the only campground in the Gatlinburg area, I personally would just not camp or I would seriously consider changing my camping destination to Pigeon Forge, just 15 minutes away. I’ll have to say my daughter’s first birthday will certainly be remembered and spoke of often. I hope this helps in your camping decision.

Two Rivers Campground is a quiet, peaceful place located just 2 miles north of Opryland and Opry Mills.

They have a campstore with a variety of grocery and RV items as well as a gift shop. They have a game room with video games and a pool table. They also have Free WiFi. The attractions in Nashville are too numerous to list, but Two Rivers Campground will gladly help you with all your reservation needs at no additional charge. They have a very friendly staff… they got us Grand Old Opry tickets, booked our tours, and gave us very detailed directions to many of the local sites.

This campground is the cheapest, and cleanest of the 3 parks right in Nashville. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting Nashville.

Raccoon Mountain Campground is a beautiful park. It is set out of the cluster of Chattanooga, but still close enough to enjoy all of the area attractions. I think it was only 5 miles from downtown Chattanooga.

They have nice big rig sites! The bathrooms and facilities are clean and well maintained, and the staff was very nice and made us feel right at home. The surrounding area is beautiful and we had a chance to do a little exploring. It was nice to get back to this campground at the end of the day.

Black Bear Cove Resort is in Benton, Tennessee… just minutes away from rafting on the Ocoee River and is located on the Hiwassee River which has great class 1 and 2 rapids and trophy trout fishing.

The sites are 50 to 70 ft. deep. The bathhouses are beautiful and are heated and cooled. There is a laundry, camp store, playground, volleyball, horseshoes, and a pavilion. There are picnic tables and fire rings at every site. The campground is a great place for walks and has tons of activities. Rates are reasonable. We paid $32 a night for a full hookup.

Tellico Plains KOA could be nice but there are no activities for the kids, no game room and a very small pool. The campground also has very poor cable TV service and the WiFi works sometimes.

We stayed at Misty River Cabins & RV Resort this past fall for a long weekend and had a great time. The campground appears to be relatively new, which is nice. The facilities were clean and well maintained.

What we really loved was the bath house! It had private bath rooms just like home. You go in and close the door behind you and its all yours. I have never seen bathrooms like this in any campground… you’ve got to see them. The campground also has a very nice pool and it’s directly on the river.

We will definitely go back again.

Lakeview RV Park is a very nice campground with a friendly staff. We spent a week with them and have no complaints.

They include cable TV, Wi-Fi and full hook-ups. There are very few pull thru sites, but we have a 40ft 5th wheel and had no problems backing into our site. There was plenty of space. This campground is very close to the Bristol Motor Speedway. The staff even recommended some places to eat and provided a sheet of local places and directions.

We will re-visit this campground often.

River Plantation RV Park is near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and located very convenient off the main road (US Route 441).

This is a beautiful campground. The facilities are clean and well maintained.  They have very nice showers, laundry, and pool. The people here are friendly and the operation is well run. It’s a great little organization. Shopping and attractions are very close by. Camping fees are reasonable and you can get a 10% discount if you are a Good Sam member.

I would give this campground a 5 out of 5.  We recommend this park and will surely return!

Crossville KOA has easy access off of I-40. It is in the middle of 2 exits, so you can get off of one and return on the one in the direction that you are leaving. It is located on the Cumberland Plateau and has nice mountain views.

We found this campground very peaceful. They have a new salt swimming pool, and a great rec room with coffee in the morning. The sites are spacious and can accommate large rigs, small, tents and has a very nice 4 unit motel.  There is a nice campground store that has a little bit of everything. There is catch and release fishing for the children in the ponds, a very nice tent area, a community fire pit and individual fire pits at the rv spaces. They’ve got a game room too.

The individual tiled shower rooms were very clean as was the campground. The management gave it a relaxing homey feeling. Can’t wait to return and this time it will be for more than one night.
