My family has a travel trailer that we hitch to our truck and travel just about anywhere we want to go. We have two pre-teen boys and they just love to camp out. After doing a little research we discovered that Loon Lake Lodge had hookups for our camper and they also had tent sites and yurts. The boys wanted to pitch a tent, but we got them a yurt for themselves. It had bunkbeds which was much better for them than sleeping on the ground – in my opinion anyway. They even had a little refrigerator where they could keep their water and soft drinks cold and a microwave for evening popcorn snacks.

Our site was perfect for our needs. We are pretty much self contained, but we did need to be near the facilities. Which we were. The boys rented a paddleboat one afternoon and their father took them fishing every morning. Then one evening we had an early dinner and drive the few miles to the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. The brochure said one of the best times to see the heards was right before sundown, do we parked and had a great vantage point. It was very educational for the boys to see wildlife as it should be – without interference from humans.

In our camper area we met some very nice people and the boys also found some children their own ages to pal around with. Everyone was friendly, including the management. There isn’t anything they could have done to make us feel more welcome. Our set up was easy and worry-free.

I like to avoid weekend getaways that are too close to the highway and one of my friends recommended the Loon Lake Lodge in Reedsport, Oregon for its peaceful ambience.

We drove from the Eugene airport and were greeted by a herd of elk grazing away unperturbed by the curious onlookers. That set the tone for the trip which was one of the best we have had in recent times. Loon Lake is a great place. It’s easily accessible and yet, has a natural aura about it. Coming back to the resort, we are a family of 3. But we chose a riverfront cottage. It has a deck that overlooks the lake and there’s nothing like having a drink hearing the loons in the distance. Just melts the stress away. The cottage was very spacious and well furnished. The kitchen was well stocked. And the linen was clean and fresh.

The marina area has different types of boats for rental and we spent some time in a Pontoon boat which was a first for the kid. I tried by hand at Canoeing but it was a lot more difficult than it seems. The kid was also introduced to fishing. Her first time and she caught her first fish within minutes.

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place with great services that wont drain your pocket, then this is it.

The Madras KOA is about 10 miles south of Madras, Oregon on Hwy 97, and then a 1/2 mile east on Jerome.

This is a typical KOA, the sites were large and spacious, a nice park like atmosphere, friendly folks and anxious to please. The views from the campground are great. The park is quiet and the sites are grassy with some shady spots. They have a heated outdoor pool. Fishing and boating are nearby. There is a convenience and gift store on the property. They also have free Wi-fi.

They have weekend ice cream socials from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We had a great time camping here!

Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort is a great campground located in a beautiful part of Oregon. Loon Lake is known for its pleasant climate. The campground is located about 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and the air is dry and warm. They are a few minutes from Reedsport, Oregon.

In addition to camping, the resort and has vacation cabins and a motel. The RV Park has full-hookups, satellite TV and free Wi-fi, and sits on one mile of Loon Lake frontage. Lake views and beach camping are available, as are a restaurant, a store, and fuel in the lodge. Fish the lake for trout, bass, blue gill, catfish and carp.

Nearby is the Oregon Coast vacation area, where you can explore the Umpqua River, see the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area, or visit the famous Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

The campground is very scenic and peaceful. I recommend it!

We really liked Turtle Rock RV Resort! Even though the RV spaces are gravel they were very level, and very large, lots of grass and space to spread out in.

Our space backed up to the water and we had a great view. There’s a path to Kissing Rock Beach and its an easy walk to get there. The owners and staff were friendly and very helpful. The staff kept the park very clean.

We plan on coming back next summer and staying longer.

Crown Villa RV Resort is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever been to. The campground is located in a quiet residential setting on the southern end of Bend Oregon. The amenities are extensive, far too many to list. The campground features large landscaped 55′x100′ brick paved sites, each with good sized storage buildings and 1600 sq. ft. patios.

Paved street, off-street paved parking, and twenty-five acres of lush manicured grass with mature pine trees are only a few of the many reasons to visit this campground.The people who own and operate this campground are exceptional.

Klamath Falls KOA is very clean, with nice looking and well maintained grounds and a friendly staff.

Campsites have grass and a picnic table though they are a little too close together. The restroom facilities are clean, as well as the good sized laundry room. Prices in the camp store are fair. There is not a lot to the playground. Pets are allowed and there are dog walks. The pool is nice and clean though it’s not heated.

We enjoyed our stay in a 5th wheel in August, 2010.

Hee Hee Illahed RV Resort is a very nice park, but doesn’t keep up maintenance.

For example, the half of the parks lighting is out and they haven’t done anything about it. This does not help with local security since the park is in a rather industrial area. This is especially true if you get a spot in the back. They seem to care about the lighting up front, but no so with the back half lots where most customers are told to park. Also, they say they have security, but I haven’t seen it!

If they would keep security and lighting up, I would rate it very high. Otherwise, it’s marginal though nicely equipped!

Four Seasons RV Park is located in Gold Beach, Oregon… a wonderful spot right on the north bank of the Rogue River. The campground provides full hookups and a private dock where you can dock your boat or board the Rogue River Jet Boats.

The people who run it are tremendous. You get a personal escort to your site by the owner and his dog. There are sites right on the river and if you can get one, they are great but sites off river are fine too. Nothing like the moonlight on that river at night.

They have a laundry, showers, a grocery and bait and tackle shop (including fishing licenses). Steelhead and salmon fishing advice is free. Reservations can be made for fishing guides and jet boats at the park office. They are also Good Sam and AAA affiliated.

There’s also lots of things to do and see in Gold Beach. We would return often!
