The Sallisaw/Ft. Smith West KOA is a clean, well maintained campground just off Interstate 40. I liked all the cable channels and great wifi. We stayed here over night and it was great…  nice and quiet, and with friendly people. Our dog loved the trails at this campground.

We do not recommend Cole’s Evergreen Marina campground for various reasons.

There is very poor acces to RV parking. Almost all of the camp sites are backins and you have to manipulate your RV through trees. The bathrooms are often not very well maintained and without amentities.

There is no boat ramp close if you happen to have a boat and very limited parking for trailer. There is also no waterfront access to swim or beaches.

Upon arrival at 8:00 pm, while explaining the fees, I asked the attendant which was the better deal. His reply was “What do you think?” I chalked that up to his attitude and paid for a month.

At 5:20 am the next morning, we were woke by the slamming of the RV next door which hold 7 construction workers who are filthy. Their campsite looks like it should be in a coalminer’s park… dirty workpants hanging over the awning, empty boxes, workboots, 5 gallon buckets filled with glass beer bottles, can, cups, empty trash on tables, a barking dog, dirty backpacks, gas cans, and other things line the underneath of their trailer. When we spoke to the management and asked for a refund of course they said NO. They did offer to move us to another site. However, I am very sick and to tear down my stuff again takes 5-6 hours. If I have do this amount of work again, I would just like to go to a decent park.

So, yesterday the lady attendant came to get on to us for our brand new Jansport backpack with fishing tackle in it, sitting on our picnic table while we fished. This morning, all 7 workers were outside laughing, talking, and throwing glass beer bottles in the bucket, at 6 am! This park is not worth the expense, and the attendants don’t seem to care.

We had a horrible time at Riverside RV Park campground. The roads are very curvey and hard for big campers to get into the campground and the path leading to the campground is less than attractive.

The check in was non-existant. The owners came out told us where to park and said they’d collect the money later. The next day they came out and said that we reserved a week and they wanted to get paid for a week or we could get our stuff and get out! This was so weird, because we had not had any problem with them the day before but they came out the next day! We asked them what if we decided to leave early and they said their was no refunds…

The campground was not very well maintained. Their was one dumpster for trash. Our electrical hook-up was broke and we had to connect with an extension cord to another outlet in another camping spot. When we made reservations we were told that they had a shower house, but when we got there no shower house. No coke machine, no restroom facilities, no gift store, no office, no nothing! I can say that this was the worse place we’ve ever stayed. We were the only one’s camping their that we could tell… Though their was a bunch of campers parked around that the owner said people used on the weekends. We tried to ride our bikes down the path to the campground but were met by three large pitbulls!

I don’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s not kid friendly. No playground or anything! The cabins are some run down trailor houses!

We went to Quartz Mountain but their really wasn’t much to do. No marina and you can’t rent water-craft. The amusement park there was old and look unsafe! The watersides, were ok, but with just 2 slides it got old really fast! Boring place… we won’t ever go back!

We recently stayed in Elephant Rock Campground at Tipps Point in Ardmore. It was a very nice campground! All the interior roads were paved and the park was very clean. The restrooms with showers were cleaned several times a day.

We backed into a very large asphalt paved level site that was right next to the lake. Most of the sites at this campground can accommodate large RV’s. Our site had a picnic table and a built-in barBQ. The 50 amp power was new and modern.

One important note, no reservations accepted at this campground… this is first come first served only. On a 1 to 10 scale Park is a 9.

Elk Run RV Park is a nice overnight campground, right off the Interstate 40 in a quaint small town. The staff is friendly and made us feel right at home. We were even escorted to our site. The park itself is very clean and well maintained, with paved road throughout. They have a nice clubhouse building for larger groups. They have good laundry facilities too.

There were lots of grassed areas between level, gravel sites. There are some small trees, but for the most part there is little shade. There’s also plenty of room for larger rigs… we have a 40 class A and had no problems getting in and out of our site.

We stayed several days at Cedar Oaks RV Resort on our way back from a camping trip to Branson. This is a very nice park located right on Grand Lake of the Cherokees in northeastern Oklahoma.

There are a great selection of campsites right on the lakefront and we had one of them. There are also free boat slips available for RV’ers who have boats. The owners and staff were wonderful, the rates are reasonable, and there was plenty to see and do within a mile or two of the campground.

Grand Lake is a very scenic lake with some great fishing. If you like antiques be sure to visit Harber Village, located just a few miles from the campground.

We highly recommend Cedar Oaks RV Park and are planning on returning this summer.

Cole’s Evergreen Marina is a marina that advertises that they have RV camping space. They do… kind of. They have 18 spaces, almost all back in only. Not all spaces have their own hookups. The roadway is so narrow that it is a challenge to get into the space. The shower facilities not acceptable. They were not cleaned for sure between Friday afternoon and Monday morning. There is no walking path to the bath house. This is really a marina to which, if you insist, you can take a RV. Also, there is no cell phone service in the area and no public telephone is available. It’s even difficult to figure out where the office is.

We are new full timers who live in a 35′ Class A and tow a 25′ car trailer with a Jeep Wrangler. We love our new lifestyle and have met so many new friends along the way and stayed at many parks we wish to return to. Cedar Oaks RV Resort, right on the shore of Grand Lake, was one of the ones we wanted to return to for a longer visit.

I called a month ago to make reservations indicating we wanted a lake front site, we are 60′ long, we have a slide on each side. I was aware of one site that would accommodate us and requested that one. I was told it was available for the week we wanted.

When we arrived at the park we were told that a mixup had occurred with a camping group and someone was in the site we requested. There was a site that we could use for 6 of the 7 nights, but there was a reservation starting the seventh day. We were assurred that there was a lake front site in another area that would accommodate us for the 7th night. We checked in agreeing to the condition that we would be provided a suitable lake front site for the 7th night.

We checked at the office yesterday to see if the site they planned to move us to was available for three nights. We felt our stay would be more enjoyable if we didn’t have to move for a night and leave the next day. We were moved to the alternative site and it did NOT accommodate our unit. We barely fit, our living/dining slide was hindered by our neighbors yard art, we could not extend our awning because of a tree, the tree hindered fully opening our door.

I told the managers I didn’t see why we had to move at all, we didn’t make the reservation error, they did. We had a reservation, why did the people coming on Sunday have a reservation that was to be honored and our reservation wasn’t being honored. There was not an acceptable explanation and I requested that we be refunded our money as there was no acceptable site available to us.

We paid at a weekly rate. I understand when refunds are granted that daily rate is charged but I feel that Cedar Oaks RV made inaccurate representation of (1) a reservation for a lake front site was avilable that would accommodate us and (2) apparently there are two types of reservations — ones that are honored and ones that aren’t. I feel to make things right, they should have pro-rated the weekly rate. Had we known they would not keep their word we would have stayed somewhere else and paid weekly rates. Maybe this is expecting too much from Cedar Oaks, but fair is fair, a reservation for a specific site is a reservation, and a promise of a suitable site is a promise.

The manager kept saying we were causing a problem by requesting to move two days earlier than necessary, but it would have made no difference, we still would not have fit on the seventh day!

Anyone thinking about staying at this Good Sam park with a big rig may want to think twice.
