We pulled into Wildwood Lakes Campground with the intention of staying one week. It was near to where our grandchildren live and it had good ratings. We left after one day.

This campground has a large population of semi permanent residents who we soon learned flaunted the park rules. In my opinion, they were very unfriendly to “outsiders”. Shortly after we set up camp I took my laptop to a nearby pavilion to access the wifi. As soon as I opened the case and turned on my computer I was attacked by three large dogs who came from a nearby trailer. I jumped up on a picnic table but the largest dog, a German Sheppard, came after me on the table, growling and snapping. Out of sheer fright I managed to leap up and grab onto the rafters of the pavilion, no easy task for a man of my age (67 yrs. old) The Sheppard was snapping at my heels, growling and barking loudly and I was scared out of my mind. About then the dogs owner showed up laughing. I screamed at him to call his dogs off, which he finally did. I refused to come down until he put his dogs in his trailer. I was shaking like a leaf when I finally came down and I let him have it with both barrels. I was so mad that I screamed in his face about what a irresponsible dog owner he was.

When I calmed down I returned to my RV to compose myself. I then went to the camp office to inform the owner about what had just happened. He did not appear to be overly concerned and said that “It won’t happen again”. One hour later I looked out of the rear window of my RV to see all three dogs roaming loose, and the dog owner nowhere in sight. The dogs roamed loose all day and evening while I was effectively a prisoner in my RV.

When we eventually calmed down enough to get to bed we kept hearing a loud, droning noise. It seems that they put us at a site across from the sewer pumping station. The pumps ran all night and kept us awake. The following morning we broke camp and confronted the owner. It soon became evident that he was not in charge. His wife was, and she was very nasty to us. Telling us that no one had ever complained about the noise from the pumping station. Nothing was said about the dog incident. She was very reluctant to refund our money, but after my wife got in her face she relented.

I would not recommend this RV park to anyone under any circumstances.

The owners wife is not very friendly. They made our visitors leave @ 11PM on holiday weekends, and if not, they come around to collect $5 per person if they are there at 11:05pm.

Then they charge for fishing, and swimming even if you have paid to stay over night.

The owners wife is in charge of cooking food at the store. She requires customers to sign in before going back to the campsite even if they are just quickly dropping something off to you? It takes more time to sign in sometimes than just drop the item off and leave.

Bathrooms are older. I don’t think there is much to do here unless you like to swim and or try to swim in an old pond… or play in an old playground. They have putt putt golf but they charge $4 per person, and it’s not a very nice kept course. Then, if the kids take too long to play the owners wife will come out and take the clubs away from the kids and tell them they have taken too long to play and they are done.

Check out is at noon, and you better not be on the site a minute after noon or they try to charge you for another night. Our overall experience was poor. I don’t think it was worth the money.

The laundry facility is at the main station. It’s a bit of a hike from any of the three loops! Most likely have to drive your toad to the laundry station. My comments on the bathroom and showers pertain to the B loop, can’t speak for the A and C loop. All three loops have camp hosts. Good spacing between the sites.

There was no hot water in the restroom for two days. There were bugs galore, and swarms so thick you couldn’t be outside. (June bugs). But the real problems was the restrooms were never clean. We noticed thousands of dead bugs laying everywhere. In the sinks, showers, floor and toilets. Gross! If they knew the bugs were bad in this section, close it off! Assign someone to the restroom all day to keep in sanitary.

In section A, where the cabins were, no bugs, clean bug free restroom with piped in music, and hot water! What a difference.

What we have discovered as we have ventured out and looked at other campgrounds is that we are spoiled by what we have a Mohican State park. This class A campground has 33 full hookup and 118 water & electric sites.

The sites at this campground are large, paved, and level for the most part with plenty of trees. The bathrooms are everywhere and there are three seperate shower houses.

Mohican State Park Campground is hard to beat for us.

They have a swimming lake that is spring fed and fishing a lake for fishing too. The only negative here is that there is no laundry facility on the grounds and the bathrooms could use some updating.

Twin Lakes can handle everything from tents to big rigs. We stayed here two weeks while we visited with family in the area. We will probably go again next year. They are open year round.

Sandusky is located in Northern Ohio, just off Ohio Route 2 on the shores of Lake Erie. Cedar Point is a sliver of land that juts out into Lake Erie and the theme park and campground are located here. The concept is a lot like Disney… a destination vacation with everything located on the property.

The first thing you’ll notice is that the campground is right next to the theme park. In fact, campers have their own entrance to the theme park. That’s very cool!

The campground has 283 sites, but only 59 full hook-ups. All full hookup sites are paved and include electricity (30/50amp), water, sewer, and cable. Water is only available on the full hookup sites. All sites have a charcoal grill and picnic table. Ground fires and tent camping, either alone or in conjunction with your RV, are PROHIBITED.

Campers can purchase discounted tickets to the theme park at the camp store where you will also find a limited selection of groceries and camping supplies.

Individual sites are a little on the small side, but it’s understandable when you consider that they pack a lot into this small penninsula of land on Lake Erie. All the sites though, are level, very clean and well maintained. A few have a bit of shade but most (RV sites) are open.

Cedar Point Camper Village is not where you would want to go for a little privacy, it’s simply ment to be another accommodation option when visiting the theme park. In that respect, it’s a great place to camp.
Get up in the morning to a freshly made plate of ham, eggs toast and coffee. Casually prepare for a day at the park while you hear the faint clank of the coaster tracks. Then, just a few steps away you enter the campground’s private gate to the park and you’re there! No lines, no waiting! Spend a few hours at the park and then head back to your RV for some lunch and relaxation then head back to the park when you feel like it. For theme park lovers, it doesn’t get any better than this!

For us, it’s the perfect location… just far enough from the highway to feel remote, but it’s only about 3 miles from Richmond, Indiana.

The park is just off I-70, exit 156 right on the Ohio/Indiana border. Richmond has plenty of restaurants and shopping.

The park is clean and well maintained with lots of nice sites with full hookups. They have a nice heated pool, a small lake with a beach, paddle boats and kayak rentals and a nice little store that stocks all the basics.

There are plenty of activities here too, especially on the weekends. They limit the number of seasonal guests, which is also a plus.

The staff is very nice and willing to answer our questions. We recommend Natural Springs Resort to all our friends!
