We stayed at Turquoise Trail Campground in October, 2007. I was a little wary of staying here because they do not have a website, but we wanted to stay away from the crowds of Albuquerque. I was pleasantly surprised! We were escorted to our site upon arrival. The directions they gave me to the campground were great (it is a little off the beaten path).

The showers/bathrooms were somewhat older, but very clean and accessible. We loved being close to the mountain instead of on an asphalt parking lot.

River Ranch in general is a nice place. The Red River runs through the middle of the park and camp sites are available along the river bank. The river looks clear and clean. Nice clean bath houses too. But the park is run like a German WW2 internment camp. Guards were always asking what I’m doing there, even just after taking my money for a weeks worth of payment. I felt I was harassed by the owner for walking through park one morning. He wanted to know why I was walking through (I paid for a week. That’s 7 days).

We checked into the Cactus RV Park in Tucumcari, NM this afternoon (7/16/07) for a one night layover on our way from Connecticut to Arizona and we were very favorably impressed!

The host who met us and assisted us to our location was very pleasant and helpful and the facility was very clean and well maintained.

We found this RV Park in the Passport America Directory. The description was very glamorous, I would not say that about the grounds. The space we were assigned had room enough to pull in, but no patio space. It appears to me the owners may be trying to bring this old Motel & RV Park back to life.

The Passport America rate listed in their directory was $11.75. It also advertised additional discounts for smaller RV?s or no slide outs. (We do not have slide outs) I was told that the normal price was higher and that I was paying the discounted price. The total price was $13.95, I was told that the additional charge of $2.20 was that they had a very high Tax Rate. I paid cash, (No Credit Cards accepted) and was not given or offered a receipt. I do not feel the advertisement in the Passport Directory was accurate.

This is a ?beware? letter for all of you RV?ers who have worked so very hard to be where you are today. There are some places that should not be visited or revisited.

I am writing this letter on behalf of my senior parents, my husband, my son, myself, and all of you who spend your hard earned dollars to travel ?RV? style. I am also a native of Albuquerque for over thirty years. I find this experience to be a terrible representation of our city, and very embarrassing.
