Cactus RV Park is very nice. The campground is clean and well maintained. The manager/owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

The park offers free wifi at your site. The cable tv hookup has lots of channels and they even provide the cable if you don’t have one. The individual campsites are very level. We would highly recommend Cactus RV Park as an overnight stop or even for a few days.

Albuquerque KOA is a very nice park located right off I-40 (exit 166) at the base of the Sandia Mountains.

The campground has a great staff, a nice, well-stocked campstore, and a large park with full hookups. The only negative I can think of is that there are very few trees or shade here so it can get pretty warm here in the summer. If you mind the heat, be advised.

That being said, I would still recommend this campground.

We stayed at American RV Park for several months. We were in Albuquerqe to visit with family, but inquired about workcamping positions at the park. This was our 4th workcamping position, so we were experienced and felt the park was a nice place to both live and work.

The park is clean, friendly, and we were well treated. The restrooms are roomy, with lots of warm water, and are kept very clean. The weather was pretty rough for awhile, but the park worked hard at keeping the roads in the park open and everyone comfortable. It is not easy to keep everyone happy, and we saw our share of rude campers who expected everything done their way.

We feel that American RV Park is a good park with good people who did their best most of the time to accommodate everyone. The managers are spending a lot of time updating the park and it really shows. Be sure to give it a try and make your own decisions.

This is a great KOA park. It is a bit out of the way (about an hour from the caverns), and being in the middle of desert land can get quite windy, dusty and hot. The very nice landscaping is still very young so there is no shade.

It is also on the pricey side at $45+ per night. However, the camp hosts are probably the best we have ever run across. They are very accommodating and make you feel like you are a guest. None of this closing at 8pm and never seeing anyone again.

Don escorted us to our site, stood around and visited for a few minutes and actually had a little bottle of bleach solution that he poured on the faucet just to sanitize! I’ve never seen this before.

The sites are nice and level and our site had two dump valves to accommodate adjusting your rig so it?s positioned as your prefer. The playground is nice, the pool is great, the fire truck rides are cool and the restrooms are completely unbelievable. They will even deliver bar-b-q dinner to your rig (fee) if you desire.

We stayed at the Cactus RV Park in Tucumcari, NM. This campground is conveniently located off the I-40 right on old route 66.

We were very impressed as soon as we drove into the property. The campground is very nice, clean and well maintained. The host was very friendly and helpful and made us feel quite welcome. The price for Passport America was only $22.45 and included 50 amp service, cable tv and secure wi-fi.

What a great overnight park. We would definately stay at this campground again.

We discovered Rose Valley RV Ranch on the Internet. Their website looked like it was just what we were looking for so we decided to spend a few days there. The campground is located in southwest New Mexico in the town of Silver City.

The property is relatively new and it looks like the owners spent quite a bit of time and effort in making it a cut above the rest. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.  The ranch has great scenery and there are many interesting sites to see nearby.  Rose Valley has Wi-Fi, which is something we always look for in a campground as we are on the road quite a bit and need to communicate with friends and family throughout the country.

The campground is Big-rig friendly too! We’ll be back!

My family and I just returned from an 8,000 mile road trip from Oregon to the East Coast and back. The whole trip went beautifully and we stayed mostly in KOAs. The only issue we had was at one of the non-KOA sites we stayed at in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.

We stayed at the Santa Rosa Campground right on the I40 in Santa Rosa. It was formerly a KOA about 7-8 years ago. As I said previously, we had not had any issues going out east or heading back to this point.

We stayed one night and on this evening, our 7 year old and 4 year old daughters and our 2 1/2 year old son went to the camp store as they had many times before. During their time at the store, our son took off his “clean” diaper (we are in the midst of potty-training him) and asked to go to the bathroom. Once my 7 year-old saw what was happening, she threw the diaper away and took our son to the girls room as this is what she knows. She did the right thing.

At this point, the owner, Bob yelled at my daughter, telling her to keep our son out of the girls bathroom, to go back to her trailer and not to ever come back without her parents. She came back in tears. I have never seen her so upset. That, and we had not violated and park rules (there was no provision about children being unaccompanied by an adult in the store) made my wife and I pretty upset.

Later that night, before embarking on a walk, my wife went into the store to talk to Bob, merely asking him what happened. He began yelling at her, and told her she didn’t have a leg to stand on. We almost left right then and moteled it for the night but stuck around and left ASAP the next morning.

I went to talk to Bob the following morning before we left and he was not working. This is when I found out he was the owner so I really didn’t have any recourse.

I do not recommend Santa Rosa campground if you have kids.

Silver City RV Park is in the heart of Silver City, New Mexico. The park bath house was very clean and well maintained. The Gila Wilderness Area is close by and is breathtakingly beautiful.  However… some reviews seem exaggerated, after a visit to Silver City, New Mexico one will realize this is not the case.

I do recommend south western New Mexico as a place of splendid beauty to visit, especially the Gila Wilderness Area, but my tip of the day is to avoid Silver City.

Wow, what a view! Even my cat loved it, he wouldn’t budge from the windows! But one caveat, chock your tires, as you will be backed up against a very steep embankment! Also, this park is 8 miles north of Raton (about 6300 feet elevation), but those 8 miles are a very steep grade up to about 7,000 feet in elevation. If you don’t get a “running start” when you drive through Raton on I-25, you will drive the 8 miles chugging at 45 mph while the RV’s with Colorado plates just speed past you (probably laughing!).

This is a great overnight stop on your way up or down I-25. Sites are all on gravel. The laundry room was clean, and the women’s rest room was clean, except only one shower was in use. The other showers had “stuff” stored in them. Wi-Fi was a bit slow, but it operates from a satellite. To use the Wi-Fi, you have to register, and you get a “coupon” code good for one day. TV reception via antenna was ok, some channels good, some spotty. Cell phone service was spotty, had to walk around to find a signal. My Verizon air card wouldn’t even connect. The water here is excellent!

The only negative I would say about this park is that I would try to avoid spots 1 & 2 and spots 22-24 as those spots, although they are “pull through,” are located parallel along the driving area. Lastly, if you are one of those people who bought the expensive surge protector from Camping World, you can use it here. The electric poles are long enough to allow you to plug in the surge protector.
