Fort Custer Recreation Area - Augusta, MI
My adult son and I spent five July 2008, nights camping in a tent at Fort Custer State Recreation Area between Battle Creek and Augusta, Michigan.
We arrived about three days after rain, but the mosquitoes remained active. I am quite allergic to mosquito bites so each evening, I had to change to jeans and long […]
Lake Huron Campground - Port Sanilac, MI
Lake Huron Campground is a great, brand new RV resort located right on Lake Huron. They have brand new facilities and lots of activities for the kids.
We rented a golf cart and had a great time over the 4th of July holiday. Their fireworks display was awesome! The property doesn’t have alot of trees yet, […]
PJ’s Family Campground - Stockbridge, MI
Upon arriving at PJ’s Family Campground, we found the price was right and had made reservations for a week. Little did we know that the bathroom and shower facilites were a total mess.
Petoskey RV & Cabin Resort - Petoskey, MI
This is an exceptional campground! Our friends recommended Petoskey RV Resort to us, but we were a little wary… everyone seems to have a different impression of what a good RV park is. Anyway, we were pleasently suprised when we arrived. The campground was absolutely beautiful!
There are paved streets throughout the campground with level, paved […]
Thunder Bay Golf Club and Resort - Hillman, MI
This is a great stop for RV golf nuts! All rigs must be self contained but all sites have full hookups and WIFI. All sites are pull thru and you are a short walk to the club house and restaurant. Thunder Bay Golf Club and Resort makes a great home base to play other courses in the region. The resort also has horse drawn carriage rides to view elk and enjoy a home cooked meal featuring Michigan wines.
Whispering Oaks Campground - Baldwin, MI
We just happened to drive by Whispering Oaks Campground and decided to stay. The campground is smaller but very well kept and clean. The interior roads are nice gravel. The property has lots of flowers all over and the grass is kept nice and clean. They have a store, laundry, playground area etc. (could use a pool) and it was all very well maintained. But the biggest surprise were the restrooms.. SUPER CLEAN!! really, and all the time, we stayed for a week and everyday they were cleaned and nice.
Hidden Ridge RV Resort - Hopkins, MI
Hidden Ridge is a new resort campground in Hopkins, Michigan, right off US Route 131 (exit 59). The park features full hook ups, paved interior roads, fishing in several ponds, a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, playground, and enormous log clubhouse. In the pool area are very, very clean private showers, restrooms and a laundry. The sites are all paved with fire rings and picnic tables. The entire campground is manicured and very well maintained. Each of the ponds has a fountain.
The management is extremely friendly and accomodating. They have planned activities every weekend for every age group (i.e. live Bluegrass music, ice cream sundaes by the pool, etc.).
Oak Shores Campground - Decatur, MI
Oak Shores Campground has a lot of permanent campers. It also has a lot of rules! Not recommended for campers with kids (ages 0-17). It seem there is a rule for everything children do while camping. No scooters, no rollerblades… you name it. You can have a PEDDLE bike. NO TOYS ALLOWED IN POOL. This […]
Fort Custer Recreation Area - Augusta, MI
We stayed at Fort Custer Recreation Area in August 2005. There had been a lot of rain that week and the campground was very muddy. This is a very wooded campground. The mosquitos were so bad we could not even sit by the fire (wearing strong bug spray!). The shower facilities were far away and the shortcut was too muddy to use. The bathroom/shower facilities were very dirty. Why don’t state parks provide soap? The beach/lake area was nice, bathroom there was nice.
Ponchos Pond RV Park - Ludington, MI
Ponchos Pond RV Park is a very clean and family oriented campground. The campground has some pull through and concrete sites. They also have buddy sites available for RVers who want to be together. There are three pools: one indoor pool and spa, one family outdoor and one adult only outdoor.
Ponchos has a fishing pond in the middle of the park that is great for young kids. Also the cable TV has a channel with closed circuit TV so you can see the different areas of the park.
