We camped overnight at Cedar Haven in Freeport Maine in August 2009. This is a nice, clean, campground with very nice people running the place.

Cedar Haven is a relatively small campground with 58 mostly wooded sites. Each site has a fireplace and picnic table. 4 sites are full hookup (wse) with cable TV. 44 have water and electric hookups.10 are large, secluded tenting areas. The property has extra wide roads and oversized sites that can accommodate even the largest RV’s.

Wood, ice, snacks, toys, groceries and basic camping supplies are available at our store, located on the premises. Our facilities include:

Amenities include: rest rooms with hot showers, an on-site dumping service, dumping station, laundry, recreation hall, playground and a propane station. They also have one rental cabin and some RV rentals. There is a small, spring fed swimming pond with five hundred feet of sandy beach, and a float too. facilities are clean and well maintained.

We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Naples Campground for the first time this past August and can’t wait to go back. It is a small campground but very clean and close to everything.

The folks who own and the ones that work there made us feel like we were part of the family. It’s located in the Sebago Lake Region of Maine. The campground is fairly new… it opened in 2004. The facilities and grounds were clean and well maintained. They have some long sites to accommodate large RVs, and have added free WIFI, and a “Bob’s Kitchen” with a nice selection of “good food at reasonable prices”. They also have entertainment and activities, including a hayride trailer.

You are within 45 minutes to Conway, New Hampshire or Portland, Maine. It’s seconds to Sebago Lake and there is a pond behind the campground called Trickey Pond.

What a lovely place to canoe or kayak! We will be returning next year for sure!

We stayed at Lake Pemaquid in August 2009. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They have really nice facilities and great playgrounds for the kids.

The campground has an excellent waterfront. They also have Wi Fi… but only at the Saw Mill Rec Hall. There is a large general store that carries groceries, gifts, ice, firewood, and LP Gas. Also a snack bar with a menu that includes Maine lobster and clams, sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, an outside deck and inside tables.

I do have two negative comments… First, the hot tubs always seemed to be occupied by kids and teenagers — even the tubs for adults only. Secondly, the weekend entertainment consisted of very loud music.

Despite the negatives, we would still go again.

Paradise Park Resort Campground is an older campground located within walking distance of Old Orchard Beach, a summer resort area on the southern coast of Maine. We stayed here for a few days in Mid August.

Our check in only took a few minutes. The office attendant was very nice, welcomed us on our first visit to the campground and assured us of a great stay. We were escorted to our site and were helpfully directed as we backed our 38′ Class A into our space.

As I mentioned, this is an older campground. Most of the sites here were comfortably large in their day, but couldn’t accommodate many of today’s RV’s. Not to fret, they have recently added new section in the rear of the property with larger sites to accommodate bigger rigs.

The centerpiece of this campground is “Milliken Pond”, a scenic little body of water complete with fountain where you can fish, paddleboat ($) or just sit and relax. There are several nice bench spots located around the pond.

Most interior roads are paved and in excellent condition, however there are some tight spots to navigate if you have a larger rig. The office building also houses a small store with limited grocery and camping items. Prices are a little high, but not unreasonable. A small arcade, bathhouse and laundry are also attached to the office building.

Close by is a pool with spa, a playground, shuffleboard, basketball and volleyball courts. While some of these amenities are a little on the old side, they are clean and very well maintained.

A new section of the campground, located at the rear of the property can accommodate larger RVs and has it’s own pool, bathhouse and laundry.

Every site has a picnic table and a “fire ring”. I’ve seen fire rings made out of many recycled items… truck wheels, oil drums, but never like these. They appear to old washing machine tubs (check out the photo below). Actually, they work quite well… they just look a little weird.

This majority of this campground consists of permanent and seasonal and sites, and some look like they date back to the 60’s. For the most part they are neat and clean, but some are not and detract the the others. If you are the kind of camper that feels seasonal sites detract from the camping experience, steer clear of Paradise Park.

Paradise Park Resort has free wi-fi. From our site in the new section, the signal was nice and strong. However, bandwidth was extremely limited and internet access was frustrating because it would come and go often. Forget typical high demand times. If you really want a stable connection, you’ll have to do it at odd hours when you’re not sharing the connection if everyone else.

Our site include cable tv but the selection was limited to about 15 channels and the signal quality was extremely poor and some channels were unwatchable.

Typically, there are always campers who can’t follow basic camping etiquette, and this campground had it’s fair share while we were there. Barking dogs, loud motorcycles and parked vehicles in the roadway to name a few.

There was one thing about this campground that really impressed us… watching the ground crew do their thing. Several of our neighboring campers check out and it wasn’t more than 5 minutes later when a crew of 4 swarmed the sites to manicure (and I do mean manicure!) every square foot. They went way beyond the call of duty here. Hat’s off to these guys!

Paradise Park is the closest campground to Old Orchard Beach. A 10 minute walk will take you to all the action. You can easily spend several days visiting all the beach attractions.

All in all, we had a pleasant stay despite few negatives. If we ever consider another trip to Old Orchard Beach, this would be our first choice.

The campground is located on the shores of Sebago Lake, Southern Maine’s largest lake. The property is huge… 775 acres. It’s a great setting and they have lots of amenities, activities and entertainment options.

Campsites were a little on the small side and our site was in need of some “housekeeping” once we arrived. There seemed to be a large number of seasonal campers and time share types, which takes away from our vacation experience. Oh well, we may be seasonal campers some day so I shouldn’t complain.

During our visit the office staff was courteous, but not overly friendly. The activity staff were friendly but they spent most of their time interacting with their friends rather than concentrating on activity supervision.

We plan on heading up to Maine again this fall but we don’t plan on returning to Point Sebago.

Camden Hills is a quiet, attractive, well maintained campground nestled in a peaceful, rural setting. The park is just minutes from both Camden and Rockport Harbors and conveniently located for easy day trips to Bar Harbor, Freeport or Boothbay. Most sites were spacious with plenty of shade. Everyone on the staff were friendly and made us feel at home.

The resort has recently undergone a major renovation and, as a result received a Woodall’s 4-star rating for both facilities and recreation. The property is beautifully landscaped, with fresh flowers in the restrooms, wide easy access roads, and thoughtful touches throughout the park.

Amenities include 50/30 amp electricity, city water, sewer, and cable TV connections, a large heated pool and adults-only spa, clean restrooms with free hot showers, a modern laundry, and a store stocked with souvenirs and supplies. Free wi-fi and dial-up services are available 24 hours a day too!

Two Rivers is a nice little campground just east of Skohegan, right off US Route 2. The property is clean and well maintained with level, gravel sites and shade trees throughout the park. There are a good selection of full hookup pull-thrus sites for larger rigs and all sites are comfortably large.

When we arrived we were personally escorted to our site by a very friendly attendant who made us feel quite welcomed. Sites have picnic tables and a firering. There are a few seasonal campers here but not many.

Amenities include 1300′ of waterfront for fishing, boating & swimming, a new adult reading/card room, new arcade, heated pool, camp store, playground, horseshoes/volleyball, on-site cable TV (extra charge), firewood, canoe & kayak rentals, LP gas and a dumping station. They also have free cable TV and free wi-fi.

There’s also a nice little restaurant across the road with take-out service. We plan on returning to this campground again this summer!

Our family has camped at Papoose Pond Resort every summer for the past 5 years. We stayed there this past July and have already made reservations for this fall and can’t wait to get there!

The park has 180 campsites ranging from wooded tent sites to full hookup sites for big RVs. You can camp on a beachfront site, a site with a dining shelter, even a site complete with a kitchen and bath! We have a small Class C motorhome and there are plenty of site options for us.

The campground is actually two seperate areas. One section has campsites and cottages, fairly close together but you are near most of the campground amenities including the beach, general store and activities area. The other section is across the main highway (ME Route 118). This section has larger, mostly wooded sites. Most of them have more privacy because of existing vegetation that surrounds them.

The staff was friendly and the grounds and facilities were clean and well maintained. They have a daily trash pick-up service right from your site.

If you don’t have camping equipment, they have more than 60 rental units ranging from simple camping cabins located right on the beach to deluxe cabins, bunkhouse trailers, park models and lakefront housekeeping cottages with fireplaces, screened porches and great views.

Each week during the summer Papoose Pond offers an activities program with more than 100 fully supervised events and a nightly entertainment schedule featuring both professional entertainers and Papoose Pond Activity Staff.

Facilities include a one half-mile sandy beach, an 8,000 square foot recreational hall, 2 video arcades, a separate building for arts & crafts, an 18 hole mini-golf course, tennis, basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, a fleet of more than 50 rental boats, even a 1916 old fashioned carousel! They have a fully stocked “Trading Post” that has everything from ice, wood and groceries to clothing, toys and souvenirs. The Carousel Cafe, is their fast food restaurant, with daily specials. They also have free wi-fi.

I highly recommend Papoose Pond Resort… especially if you have kids. They’ll love it!

I made a reservation to stay at Mainayr Campground for a week starting Wednesday, August 5th. I called and spoke to who I believe was Cathy, one of the owners. I told her that we didn’t care about full hookups – we didn’t need sewer, but we needed power and water. I asked about space #26 that was near the water and she said it was an RV site with power and water and would accomodate our 35 foot motorhome. The website even states, “Please call us, so we can help you select the best site.”

We drove an hour to get there, looking forward to having power and water after dry camping in Acadia for three weeks.

Upon our arrival, there was no sign indicating that there was an office anywhere – you could only see bathrooms and a laundry room. There was no one at the office, no note on the door and no instructions on how to pay or anything – just pick a site and set up. We drove through and found our site but there was no water. While looking around for water, we noticed tent sites with great water views so we asked David, who drove through, about just dry camping on a particular tent site. He said we could but it would be the same price.

You can dry camp at beautiful Acadia National Park for $20 a night . . . but here you pay $27.

Since we weren’t going to get any discount for NOT using the power, we decided to go back to #26. We filled our tanks, got our RV set up and leveled, plugged in to the power and there was no power on the top cracked outlet. When we plugged into the bottom of the 20 amp outlet, it flipped a breaker immediately. NOTHING WAS ON IN THE RV TO DRAW ANY POWER TO MAKE IT FLIP.

We called to ask about it and were told by Cathy that someone had just been in that site recently. She also said that we couldn’t use our AC – and after hanging up the phone and browsing through the literature provided at the locked front office, I saw that there was an extra $3 charge for using your AC! The fact that there’s a charge for using your AC isn’t on the website – just “Additional charges for utility connections and special sites apply”. If you are going to be staying for a long period of time, there are usually metered sites and you pay electricity charges based on the meter. But here we were to pay $3 a day for whenever we use our AC. You can put that in plain language on the brochure, but not on the website?

David did NOT offer us a discount or a free night’s stay. When we complained about not having power, he said, “I guess you should leave”. And we did.

We spent a lovely weekend at Searsport Shores and wish we could have stayed longer. The weather was challenging at first but the staff went out of their way to make campers comfortable. They have a beautiful lounge complete with a roaring fire, comfy chairs, play space for kids and enough books to make a voracious reader like myself to start praying for rain!

Our site was right on the water and although small, it was private enough. The staff was very helpful in our search for a great bike ride and their recommendation was right on. The campground has kayaks for rent which we hope to use on our next visit-and we will visit again!
