This campground had no cable TV and we had no box. Every other KOA we have ever stayed at had cable hookups. They offered free Wi Fi that did not work. I had a connection that said “very low” and never did get service.

The house of the manager appeared to be a corrigated metal double wide that looked poorly maintained and surrounded by junk. One woman who worked there was rude. The two other people in the office were friendly. We will never stay at this KOA again.

The campground was conveniently located just a few minutes from I-70 (exit 129).

The Casey KOA is located in a large field dotted with mature shade trees. Interior roads and individual campsites are gravel in relatively good condition. Sites are a comfortable size, with plenty of room for large rigs, slideouts and awnings. There are 80 sites on the property, with about 15 full hook-ups (20/30 amps), with some 50amp. There is a pond with fishing (no license required) and boating (rentals) available.

The property and facilities are clean and well maintained. The campstore has a limited selection of groceries and camping supplies. The campground also has a pool (in season), a pavilion and meeting room, vollyball, basketball, laundry facilities and Kamping Kabins. An RV sales and service center with LP gas is also located on site. Casey KOA also has free Wi-Fi. During Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, they have pancake breakfasts, biscuits and gravy, potlucks and ice cream socials. Celebrate the 4th of July with a hayride to a prime spot for fireworks gazing.

Immerse yourself in the 19th century at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site near the Casey KOA. Costumed guides play Tom and Sarah Lincoln and their neighbors at this 86-acre working living history farm, owned in the 1840s by Honest Abe?s father and stepmother. You?re also only 45 miles from Arthur/Arcola, the hub of Illinois Amish country. Casey KOA is a good choice for an overnite stop or spend an extra day and visit the sites nearby.

They are very kid friendly so if you have younger children, this is the place to be. There are 3 pools, jacuzzi’s and two water slides. They have hay rides, crafts for the kids and a lot of things for adults to do too. We stayed there a week and it wasn’t long enough.

Kamp Komfort RV Park is located in the town of Carlock, near Bloomington and Peoria. The campground is very clean and quiet. There are many features such as an in-ground pool, a large pavilion, a play area for children, a small store and a dog walk area.

This campground has the cleanest restrooms I have ever been in. The sites are level and most are pull through. Many have patios. There is plenty of shade in this campground. They provide 30 and 50 AMP service. Most of the sites provide full service. There are plenty of sites for large RVs and even tent camping. They also provide an escort to your site.

I can not say enough about this park and the owners. They are wonderful people and go out of their way to make you comfortable.

My husband and I booked a cabin at Hickory Hollow campground a month or so in advance for a 4 night stay. The website promised solitude, woodland creatures right outside your front door, nice cabins with refrigerators, microwaves, table, chairs, and a sink.

When we checked in around 4pm, we asked to be moved to another cabin that wasn’t right under a billboard and next to the highway. She said no. We dropped our things off in our cabin, and realized that this cabin probably had not been swept out in a few months… there were spiderwebs everywhere and lots of dead bugs on the bed, under the beds, and on the floor. We swept the room out before leaving to go to Utica for a quick hike and a trip to the grocery store. We returned around 7-8pm and immediately noticed we had a bug problem in the cabin.

Inconveniently, the office was closed, and we were informed upon check-in that there would be absolutely no one to get a hold of if we locked ourselves out of our cabin in the middle of the night. We decided to zip up our few belongings and put them in our large tupperware containers, and sleep in the cabin with the lights on since it was too cold to sleep in the car. We saw very large cokroaches on the wall, but had no where else to stay by the time we realized we had a problem. Neither of us slept at all. We packed all our things up in our car to leave the campground immediately.

We met the employee who opened the office the next morning at the door as she opened up 5 minutes late. She seemed very polite as she opened the front door, and we had some small talk. Then, we came up to the front counter and informed her that we would not be staying at this campground one more night because of the roach infestation in our cabin, and we wanted our money returned to us for the other three nights that we would not be staying (We paid in advance upon checkin–all 4 nights)! She immediately got angry and said she didn’t owe it to us and raised her voice and went on about how hard it is to rent out cabins! She actually told me that they were not roaches, they were another kind of large beetle that looks just like a cockroach, and then she told me that I should expect bugs while camping! I expect spiders and flies and snakes maybe, but not cokroaches. I told her that she could confirm that it was a cockroach by looking at the smashed ones on the cabin floor! She gave us our money back for the 3 nights because my husband demanded his money back.

I have NEVER interacted with a less hospitable employee! My husband and I have stayed in several cabins in Illinois, and have NEVER had a cockroach problem. By my estimation, the cabins are not properly maintained. And there are no refrigerators, microwaves, tables, chairs, or sinks as the pictures on the website show. And to top it all off, we are now battling for the first time a roach infestation in our home! I do not recommend this campground!

We were disappointed in our stay at this Jellystone Park in June 2008 after a wonderful experience at another Jellystone Park in Wisconsin. First of all, we rented a camping cabin which was advertised as having a full bed and a sleeping loft and the number of people it stated it would accommodate was within our family’s size. It seemed to be the economical choice though still pricey, because we could not afford the outrageous prices charged for bigger cabins.

When we got to the cabin, the first thing we saw was a sign on the wall stating that sleeping in the loft was not permitted. Hmmm, well, why was it advertised as if you could then and why were we not told about this when we booked it and where were our children going to sleep? There was no room for all of us in the bed and no room on the floor. We couldn’t afford to upgrade or to sacrifice our deposit/rental fee and leave to find other accommodations and besides, we came here to camp and stay at the campsite for the full time there. So we broke the rules which I don’t like to do and try to teach our kids not to do but we had little choice really.

Then there was the black locust trees with huge thorns growing near the cabin. Some of these thorns were 3 inches or longer. There were small thorny branches laying around the site and even more after a windstorm came through and blew more down. Very dangerous, especially considering that black locust thorns have an oil on them that if you get scratched or step on one (which could easily go through your foot) they frequently cause serious infections. These thorns could also have punctured vehicle tires.

The upstairs window of the loft area was broken on the outside… they had done a half fix by covering it with plexiglass on the inside but left the broken outside window in place. We mentioned it to the office so we would not be charged for it. The ceiling fan in the room wobbled and was very loud, made us afraid to have it on so we turned it off the whole stay. The AC was very cold and if you turned it down then it got too hot. There was a bulb out in the light fixture that was never replaced though we reported it.

During the windstorm the whole cabin swayed and shook and we were afraid it might blow over but it was no safer outside. Its foundation was a few wood planks that were showing obvious insect, mold, and just plain weather exposure damage.

The activities for children were nowhere near as nice or numerous as at the other YB park we stayed at in Wisconsin. There was no “energy” or enthusiasm by the staff like at the other park…it just seemed “dead”. Our children were the only ones that showed up for them and they were not announced over loudspeakers like at the other camp so I don’t think everyone knew about them or forgot the time and missed them. A couple times, the instructor decided not to do the advertised activity because she found it too hard for kids (shouldn’t they have tried them beforehand to see if they were kid friendly?) so they ended up just coloring pictures. There were no pool games or water games like at the other park. The kids for the most part had to find their own entertainment. The kids were playing on a trolley car sitting in the field that was not roped off and no signs posted and were told they couldn’t play on it though that was what it looked like it was for. The playground was pretty old and outdated and didn’t hold the kids’ interest long.

There was no nightly showing of yogi bear cartoons like at the other park and from what I’ve heard, other YB parks. When asked about this, the staff member said “Oh, we have the cartoons on VHS tape, maybe we should look into doing that.” At the other park, they had a very nice outdoor theatre set up for this.

After the storm that came through, trash was strewn about the park and a full trash can was blown over and blew trash all around our site and surrounding area which was not cleaned up until late the next day.

The food counter at the store was frequently out of things and some of the frozen treats looked freezer burned and old.

Overall, the camp just didn’t feel like it had any life to it and there was little to no enthusiasm of staff to keep kids busy and interested and excited. We could have camped at a regular campground and had pretty much the same experience. We also had to call them two weeks after our stay to remind them to refund our security deposit which they did but it took another week or so.

Yogi Bear only showed up in the morning for flag raising and the hayride, didn’t see him the rest of the day. At the other park, he walked the park periodically greeting children and also kids could write a letter to him and leave it in a special mailbox and “yogi” would answer their letter personally and it would be delivered to the cabin or campsite or RV. Nothing like that here.

There are far better Jellystone campsites. It wasn’t a horrible place to stay…bathrooms were clean and some were even roomy, showers were hot and everything worked. The cabin itself was clean and bed comfortable, but not worth the price for the stay overall.

We rented a golf cart for 10 minutes. They came to the swimming pool and publically took it back from us because we allowed our 4 year old grandson to drive. He sat in his grandpa’s lap and pretended to drive. He is 36″ tall so it is fairly obvious he couldn’t really drive the golf cart he couldn’t reach the pedals.

was no explaining this and they kept our deposit for this reason as well. They were willing to ignore the circle of 10 drunks swearing and playing their music loudly at 11:30 AM in the presence of a pool full of children. They also ignored a group blasting their music that could be heard 3 roads over where we were at.

We expected a nice family place with lots of activities for the kids. The staff was horrible. Don’t take your kids there, it isn’t family friendly.

The sites are wide, level and grassy and you park on gravel or concrete. Management is friendly and accommodating.

We had to change our arrival date due to an emergency and the campground was able to move things around so that we would be able to stay for two weeks in the same site. This is a wonderful park for dogs and walking.

I would recommend this park for Chicago visitors as you can drive to the town (10 min) and take the train downtown.

I urge all fellow full time RV families and weekenders to stay far away from this RV park. From management to maintenance, the list goes on when describing how incapable this place is of running a campground. Beware of monthly stays where you must change the power into your own name, and who knows when or if you will receive your bill because this campground does not accept U.S. mail! Our 30 amp travel trailer ended up with a $400 power bill for one month at this campground… we were horrified. On top of a $400 monthly rent, we received what I considered rude treatment from the staff, an unkempt park site with nails and screws leftover from a previous tenant and no promises whether or not we’d receive our $300 deposit due to the owner not being at home when we left.

To make matters worse, this campground charged outrageous prices for propane gas (double the price of surrounding campgrounds) only because they were the only park open year round.

Plain and simple… campers beware and my advice is to stay away.

We were disappointed in the whole experience at this Yogi Bear campground in Goodfield, Illinois.

There was one bathroom with 2 stalls and 3 showers for the whole campground, there had to be over 150 sites. The bathrooms were very outdated and dirty. The pool was so tiny for a campground of that size. We could barely get near it and when we did, we could not move.

It was very expensive. I wonder what that place is spending their profits on. People drove on the grass and so close to our camper, I was afraid my little girl would get run over. The children wandered around unsupervised. The “stocked” lake was filthy and we never did catch a fish!

I would not recommend this place to anyone.
