We stayed at the Coeur d’Alene RV Resort, located in Post Falls, Idaho, in August of 2011. It is a decent park and has the potential to be a great park. The problems I noticed are as follows.

Amenities: The picnic table at our site was in poor condition and the wood was rotting. I sat on the seat, the boards came up and I fell to the ground! They have an indoor pool and hot tub. They actually have two hot tubs but one was covered with plywood. Their office is open from 9am to 8pm during the summer. However, the pool doesn’t open until 10am for adults and 11am for kids. With check out at noon, that doesn’t give much time for the kids to swim and shower before leaving. The pool closes at 7pm for kids, 8pm for adults. The pool water and air temperatures are kept uncomfortably warm in their pool room, especially for the month of August. The shower for rinsing off in the pool area has no hot water.

Policy: Their base rate is for 2 people, which, at the time of our stay was $36 (+ tax) for a 30 amp back-in site. Additional charges apply for kids or dogs. It is $3 (+ tax) per day for each additional person, $3 (+ tax) per day for each dog and the same for an extra vehicle. The same goes for their weekly rates as well. You pay an extra $21 (+ tax) per week for your dog. Better hope you don’t have 3 or 4 kids! The manager showed up in the office on a Saturday morning in her pajamas with her hair looking like she just crawled out of bed – not very professional. Her son was with her (I know because he called her “Mom”). He looked to be about 8 or 9 years old. He was throwing a major screaming tantrum in the office area – also not very professional. Later that day, he had a Kool-aid stand next to the front door. It makes me wonder if they let anyone set up a table to sell things at the front door or only the manager’s son?

False Advertisement: The billboard seen from the freeway states that there is a “shuttle” available. However, the staff said that it had not been offered for quite some time. Their brochure and website states that they offer a “state of the art fitness center.” However, literally half of the equipment is broken. Their brochure states that they offer “spotless laundry facilities.” When I was there, the washers were filthy on the tops and around the door hinges. The floor was also dirty and scattered with debris. The washers are top load with a small capacity.

This is a great campground to stop at when you’re headed to Yellowstone. The park is clean, quiet and well maintained. The sites are a little on the small side but not bad for an overnight stop.

The entire campground is grass with a few trees here and there. Sites and interior roads are gravel. The campground owners (an older couple) are very sociable and go out of their way to answer your questions. The husband guided us to our campsite and helped us back in. The property is located on a small lake and you can fish for rainbow trout.

What a wonderful place! We stayed here while exploring the area and visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument.

The sites are all level, clean, gravel and very large, with nice big grassy areas between sites. RV sites had full hook-ups, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and good southern views (for satellite TV). They also have a separate tenting area with nice level grass and water.

All the facilities are well-maintained and clean. The bathrooms were immaculately clean (was my Mom just here?!) and had totally private shower rooms with a dressing area, seat, and hooks.

Need anything? Just ask… the owners are really nice, very friendly folks who are a lot of fun. Hungry? Grab a pancake & eggs breakfast in the cafe (FREE for overnight RV guests!). Or ribs and smoked potato for dinner.

We had a great stay… and will definitely be back to visit again!

My husband and I stayed at Rainbow Lake and Campground with our 2 teenage children in a motorhome last May. The park has a great layout that made parking our motorhome very easy.

All sites are pull-thru and wider than most. We stayed a week while our children were attending EFY at the University that was just 5 minutes from the park. While there we enjoyed visiting the St. Anthony Sand Dunes, Island Park, Yellowstone. We also visited the Rigby Museum 10 minutes away, Rigby is the birthplace of Television.

We liked the self-registration, great location & comfortable country feel.

We stayed at Rainbow Lake RV Park for just over a month during August/September. They have the best rates for the area and best location.

This is a very nice park. Quiet, well maintained, and a very friendly helpful host (I wish my wife would quit finding a reason to go talk to him). I would definitely stay here again.

One note of warning… Do not follow your GPS to this park! The area is going through some address changes and my GPS took me a mile the wrong way.

My husband and I stayed at Rainbow Lake RV Park last summer. It has a great location with a country feel yet, close to town, Yellowstone Bear World, and  BYU-Idaho.

The camp host was very accommodating… he told us this spring they are updating the restrooms, sites and adding a laudramat. The park has a beautiful lake to the south. Due to insurance purposes since the lake is privately owned nobody is allowed to swim or fish in the lake. However, they do have a walking path around the lake we loved to use.

We stayed at Mountain View RV Park in July of 2009. The people at this campground were friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean, and the grounds were well maintained. This is definitely the place to stay if you are visiting Craters of the Moon or other areas around Arco.

When I made a reservation, the person on the phone kept pressing me for a “specific” time that I would be arriving, and wouldn’t accept a general “sometime in the afternoon.” I have no idea what this was all about, as I have never had a park be that picky!

I got there about noon, and it wasn’t crowded. Later on a lot more RV’s came in, but the park was not full. The sites are mostly all pull-through, on gravel, with some grass for spacing between the RV’s. Spacing is adequate. The trees aren’t very tall, so there is no shade. If you have one of those expensive surge protectors from Camping World, it will fit here. Water pressure is high, regulators required. If you don’t have a regulator, you can get one from the office for a $10 refundable deposit. Cable is limited, only about 20 channels.

The bathrooms/showers were clean. There were about four bathroom/shower combos, in separate rooms, all unisex, with locks. Tthe laundry was clean. The Wi-Fi worked very well during daytime, but appeared to be shut off, or not available at night. There is a playground for children. They have a nice clubhouse for functions and there is a nice walk a long the river area. Cedars Restaurant is nearby.

This is a good place for overnighting,  but it’s not really a “destination” resort. 

“Would you like to face east or west?” “Would you like…” Oh my, lots of questions! But these camp hosts just want to make sure you get the spot that is best for you! The thing that tickled me the most was… the camp host was very tactful about saying, “We DO let you wash RV’s here…..” I had come through a snow storm in Wyoming and had a very dirty RV. Other RV’s in this park were very clean and shiny, so I washed my RV!

They probably run a “tight ship” here. I don’t like to give 10′s, but this park deserves a 10! This is a beautiful park! I got a personal escort to my site, and help setting up. The host also had a nice brochure showing what was available around Mountain Home.

Nice paved spaces, with plenty of room for tow cars. The slots have a large spread of grass for “spacing” between RV’s. The water faucets are wrapped and insulated for wintertime use. The park has high water pressure and it is highly suggested that you use a regulator. Restrooms/showers/laundry area was shiny and clean! There are four showers, and each is in a private, code locked room.

The park is a nice, brisk walk down from a very nice Wal-Mart, and there is a good Chinese restaurant next door. This is a good park for full-timers if you can handle Idaho winters. Or, it’s a very nice stop over on your way along Interstate 84.
