Talona Creek Camprground - Talking Rock, GA
Here are our experiences when we stayed at Talona Creek Campground: The camp store was not open a single time, and we were there for a whole week. The only two bathrooms in the entire park were out of order at the same time, for most of the week end. The drainage in the park was inadequate and flooded our site during a short rain shower.
Lake Harmony RV Park - Townsend, GA
We called to make reservations at Lake Harmony RV Park and just to ask a few questions before we went. We were told that the fishing was great and that we’d really have a great time. We asked about a water front site and were assured that we’d have a site right on the water. […]
FDR State Park - Pine Mountain GA
My stay at FDR State Park has to be one of my worst camping experiences. I made the mistake of being honest when making my camping reservation. This relegated me to a very small campsite on a rutted dirt road where I feared I would tear out the bottom of my car or my popup camper.
Trackrock Campground and Cabins - Blairsville, GA
Trackrock Campground and Cabins is 300 acres of meadows, hayfields, and woodlands in the shadow of Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point.
Completely isolated from all other commercial developments, the property is bordered on three sides by National Forest. Great care is taken to preserve the natural environment. Wildlife, flowers, and flowering shrubs are abundant throughout the […]
Lake Harmony RV Park - Townsend, GA
Lake Harmony RV Park is located about an hour south of Savannah, just far enough off I-95 so traffic noise was a faint and acceptable hum of background ambient noise. This is really a nice place. Good prices and an exceptionally friendly young couple runs/owns (?) it.
There’s another campground next door that looks nice, too, […]
Fort McAllister State Park - Richmond Hill, GA
Fort McAllister State Historic Park Campground is off the same exit as the KOA (which the in-laws tell us is very nice), about ten minutes’ drive east, two turns. Follow the signs. Not difficult to get to and worth the extra miles.
The big drawback: no reservations, first-come/first-served, which means that a phone call just as […]
Jekyll Island Campground - Jekyll Island, GA
Jekyll Island Campground is nice, very nice, but there are a few things you should consider before you go. Plan on a half-hour drive from I-95. There are lots of places to get gas and camping supplies on this part of the trip. Just follow the signs to Jekyll Island, once the lair of the […]
Hillside Bluegrass RV Park - Cochran, GA
I found this great campground on US 23/GA 87 in Cochran, Georgia. Hillside Bluegrass RV Park is under new ownership, and you can tell they are working hard at it. The campground is located on 90 acres… it is beautiful and peaceful, and close to a couple golf courses. The park holds bluegrass music festivals twice a year.
