We actually stayed for a month and plan to be back! The management, staff and locals are “over the top” accomodating and very nice! We felt at home and even borrowed the manager’s personal jeep several times to run into town. I mean, where can you do that? We can’t say enough about the place…

They have very large pull thru’s ready for Big Rig’s, full hook up (30 & 50), water and sewer on each site, free WIFI, free walk golf for monthly’s, unlimited free ice, fire-rings, grills, picnic tables, clean bathrooms, a HUGE Pool, tennis court, driving range, putting green, fishing lake, a very established 9-holes course. The campsites are only 50 yards from the clubhouse. They play night golf every weekend with glow night balls and have a couple social gatherings each week, plenty to do!

Upon our arrival we found more than what we expected. A clean family oriented, beautifully kept place of peace, rest and enjoyment.

The creek side camping offers families with not much more than a pop-up or a tent, the chance to experience nature as our early American Indian friends once did. You keep your prices low so that working families are not priced out of its use.

The whole time we were there we saw children absorbing the environment and having fun from catching their first trout to even riding a unicycle. Children and their families were having a good time.

I remember it was off a busy road and you drive down a very steep hill. It’s almost like someone dug and hole and placed maybe 5 or 6 ”A-frame” cottages on the right. Just behind those cottages was a beautiful little running creek. In front of the A-frame’s across the way was a playground. Along the creek were camp site for tent and trailers. When coming out of the campground I remember going up the hill and across the busy highway where a fireworks store stood.

I really would deeply appreciate anyone’s help in finding this campground.  It would mean the world to me.

The variety of sites with 150 to choose from and almost 2/3 are reservable online at www.recreation.gov or by telephone. They also have walk-up sites that you can get the day you want to camp. Great care has been taken on the grounds. For us, we were glad to see that the gate locked at 10:30 pm during the summer which made us feel safer. Many campgrounds have no gate.

The four campground attendants we met in June 2008 were both professional and courteous. However, they do ask that you follow the guidelines and rules of the Corps that are printed on the back of the green map. While we were at the window checking in, there were customers who were very rude to the attendants who were trying their best to explain “Please park your car behind the other customers and come up to the front window to register.” Many wanted to argue and insist they didn’t need a parking pass and could just drive through to tour the park or visit their friends. I now understand why I have seen poor reviews of this campground. The campers don’t want to follow the rules. They want their dogs off the leash, park anywhere, stay after visiting hours, and not stand in line. And still, it was one of the best campgrounds we have ever visited.

Atlanta, GA is nearby; a day trip to Tennessee; and many small historic towns nearby.

Overall, once we got to our site and began to camp, we had a great time.

All campsites have water and electricity (50 amp), and there is a nice dump station at the campground. All interior roads are paved, and we had the joy of a pull-thru site. There are several pull-thrus available for those who don’t wish to try their backing skills.

Each site has a picnic table, a trash can, a grill and an in-ground fire pit. Several bath houses with hot water showers are in the park, and there’s plenty of playground equipment for the kids. Most people come to Watsadler to use the lake, and there is a boat launch, along with a swim-at-your-risk beach. Lake levels remain low from the drought, but the lake is still quite usable. The staff is friendly and supportive.

Nearby Hartwell offers a good selection of fast food franchise places along with a couple of local restaurants (Siblings and Fletcher’s) which deserve a visit. Clemson University and the University of Georgia are less than 50 miles away.

The only problem we had was the steady invasion of sugar ants. Go prepared, because regulars said this is a common problem at Watsadler. Otherwise, give this place a 9-plus. Reservations suggested.

I should have known something was wrong from the moment I signed in Sunday June 8th, when Georgia Power was working on the power “problems”. After finding a site that was not very level, we had to reset the breaker maybe 10 times the first night; we had to turn everything off with the exception of the AC (99deg) in order to keep from tripping the breaker which later had to be replaced along with the plug recepticle (popped and started to smoke). The maintenance folks stated numerous times the camp has electrical problems.

Besides the noise from I-75 this place is loud with lots of vehicle traffic moving in and out at all different times of the day and night. The roads are very narrow. Manuvering in and around the campground does require some special skill in order not to hit other campers.

The website advertises that they have WiFi… NOT. It was hit and miss for the entire stay if the WiFi worked and when it did you could get it to load it would only stay up for 2 or 3 minutes then it would crash.

Fishing again advertised is even risky, the pond is about dried up and is very smelly and brownish colored water with floaties that I was not sure of what it was and by no means would I consume anything from it if I did catch something.

We stayed on the east side of the camp and the smell from the “poop” station (located in the southwest corner) was very strong when the wind was blowing. The shower house was clean and well maintained (best thing about this place).

As for the staff initially we thought they were very respectful and friendly but after we made complaints about the power problems they became less than accommodating. We cut our stay from 5 days to 3. We will not ever stay here again.

The owners, Robert and Melissa are the best. They personally greet you when you arrive and escort you to your site and help you get your RV parked. Once settled in, Melissa will come back to your site and “check you in”.

This is our second stay with Robert and Melissa and it will NOT be our last. This visit, my husband became ill the morning we were to leave. They had our site rented for that afternoon, but Melissa worked with the folks coming in so that we didn’t have to move. Later that evening, when my husband decided he was able to drive, Robert helped him ready the RV and even pulled our tow trailer and hitched it to the RV.

I can’t say enough about the personal attention and friendly attitudes at Creekwood Resort. I highly recommend Creekwood Resort.

The campground is located on GA Route 204, about 2.5 miles west of Interstate 95, exit 94.

Most of the sites at this campground are shady. We had a pull through site with cable. The property has 24 hour security gates with codes so we could come and go anytime.

This campground is located near several shopping malls, tons of restaurants, and it’s only 15 minutes away from downtown Historic Savannah.
