When looking for an RV Campground near Pikes Peak, CO, I found Cripple Creek KOA.

The description on their website as well as the KOA site was fantastic. However, the place is not easy to find (does not even come up on a GPS). It is not that it is that remote because it is not remote or secluded at all. It is however far from the Pikes Peak area and attractions I visited. It was at least an hour drive to get anywhere I wanted to go.

In my opinion, the owners were very rude. The website does not contain any photos of their RV sites because they are very cramped and stacked on top of each other on the side of a mountain that is desolate. There are no trees. The sites are very unlevel. There is no cell service (and they say there is cell service). I would rate any other campground I’ve been to over this one. There are many other/better choices around Pikes Peak. In fact, there are gorgeous places in the Cripple Creek area. This one was awful.

Pueblo South/Colorado City KOA is one of the nicest parks we’ve ever stayed at.

The bathrooms are almost spotless. There is green grass and lots of trees and a beautiful view of the mountains to the west. We ride a motorcycle and there are numerous places to ride and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The owners and workers are very friendly and helpful.

This is a great place! We recommend it highly!

My husband and I have been taking our 3 children RV camping for over 15 years. We have been to over 50 different campgrounds during that time and have never liked any as well as the Crystal River Resort in Carbondale, Colorado.

We have continued to make this our favorite spot and have continued to return every summer. It’s the best campground when it comes to clean bathrooms which is of vital importance when our family picks a place. We love the pool, the sand volleyball, basketball, badmitten etc. and the owners have all the equipment for you to borrow. Another aspect of Crystal River is how safe and family oriented it is. Our children are all teens now and I have always been comfortable with their saftey.

Again, Crystal River Resort is the BEST, when you combine the cleanliness along with the awesome sites right beside the river you won’t find better. The prices are reasonable and I have even seen the campground personel helping out campers that have problems with their RV’s.

We have camped in our RV in the western US and Mexico for the last 5 years… from Denver to Seattle down the west coast to as far south as Colima in Mexico. Crystal River Resort is one of our favorite places to stay because it has such large RV sites and such a beautiful setting right next to the Crystal River with a beautiful view of Mt. Sopris.

Many other RV campgrounds and resorts are asphalt, concrete and rock with little or no vegetation and you feel like a sardine in a can with small spaces right next to each other. The lack of asphalt, concrete and rock and the large sites and trees between the sites are part of what make the Crystal River Resort so great.

A few miles out of Colorado Springs is the most wonderful RV Park! It is called Mountaindale Cabins and RV Resort.

Being out of town, it is quiet and gorgeous. The deer come right between the RVs. The cottontail bunnies hop around your back door.

Other than the wildlife, this park offers internet access, laundry facilities, a playground & gameroom, a small store, and many other ammenities. The showers are unique. A bathroom… toilet, sink and shower … all in it’s own little private room. And there are eight of these private little rooms! And clean? Exceptionally! As a matter of fact, the whole park is very clean and well kept.

The family that owns & operates this camp are the most friendly and helpful people. Even Cherokee, the dog is friendly. And very “down to earth”. Good people.

This park is listed in the Trailer Life Directory and is a member of Good Sam.

Olive Ridge Campground is clean, shaded and very near Estes Park, CO without all the crowds. The campground hosts have been there a long time and I can see why. They are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I’d highly recommend this one.

We broke down and had to stay at Pueblo State Park in Pueblo, Colorado for four days. It cost $20 a night with no sewage and water hydrants were about 200 feet away from the sites. The park host rode around the campground and would not even give us a ride to the Marina 600 yards away to get ice.

We got our truck back 3 days later (fixed) and went to leave the park to get some groceries in town and they demanded I buy a pass to get back in for $6 even though I already paid my $20 to camp. They called it a daily usage fee.

Will never stay in a Colorado State Park again. We’re leaving for Wyoming in the morning to a full hookup 50amp park for the grand sum of $15 a day. Oh yeah, they also charge for showers. I’m retired but not a patsy.

Wolfcreek Run RV Park is a very nice campground. They have large concrete sites, and 50 amp service.  A river runs right behind some of the sites.

When we stayed last year and hot tub and fountain did not work… and they only allowed class A motorhomes. The rates where also rather steep at 67.00 per night. This year they now allow 5th wheels and trailers, and kids. Everything was in working order and the rates are lower at 47.00 per night.

The campground is close to town, and there is a picnic area on the river.The property is very well maintained.

Countrywood RV Park is very nice, very clean, very quiet and a great price for the convenience of all they have to offer as far as a full hookup goes.

They have a very nice and polite office manager. If you are looking for a swimming pool, playground, etc. do not plan a stay here. This RV park is for mostly working people who need a “home away from home” and they deliver! If you want a place to get your kids out of your hair, maybe you should go to a more focused RV park for that. They don’t claim to be top of the line, but what Countrywood Inn has to offer is just fine for us plain folks with no kids to keep busy and out of our hair.

We had a great stay there, and will definitely stay again, hopefully she has room. They are very small with only about 15-18 sites. If I want the works in the future, I’ll look elsewhere, (and pay) for it. I refuse to settle for the basics, which is what I want, and then complain about it! I was so happy with the office staff, and the stay I had. My grandkids want to swim & hike & always on the go, so I’ll look for a place like that when I have them with me,however, Countrywood Inn & RV Park is perfect for us. THANK YOU!
