What can I say about Saddle Mountain RV Park and campground  in Carmel Valley?

We’ve RV’d here numerous times and each time gets better than the last. The breathtaking valley views, the convenient location (all within striking distance: Highway 1, the beach, Aquarium, 17 Mile, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Garland State Park, restaurants, and grocery stores), pet friendly (must be on leash), hiking trails, nice clean bathrooms, hot showers, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of parking. Our 4 year old especially enjoyed swimming in the pool, playing badminton and horseshoes, exploring on her bike, and nature walks.

The only disappointments were not being able to have a fire-pit wood campfire (only propane), a very chilly “heated” pool, and no on-site laundry facility. However, the pleasant staff made-up for it by being so professional and accommodating; they referred us to local launderettes within 1.5 miles. Lastly, the one-lane bridge looks precarious- it’s safe. Just take your time crossing it and note that the left turn up the hill to the RV park will sneak-up on you. If you’re towing, it might be a good idea to unhook prior to turning onto Schulte Rd. while you’re on Carmel Valley Rd.

As world travelers and having lived in other countries, I must say this is one of our favorite places on earth. Cheers and happy travels!

We selected Sacramento River RV Park based on our web research. This was our destination after a long day’s drive and we arrived after dark (and it was too late to find another option).

To our disappointment, the tent area was directly across the river from a lumber mill which operated throughout the night. As sound carries over water, it was as if we had pitched our tent amid forklifts and heavy equipment with the din of the noise in our ears throughout the night.

Also to note, the grass was in desperate need of cutting, and there was rubbish rested in the BBQ. The toilet stall door did not secure and the toilet was loose and wobbly. There was no one at the office when we arrived or when we left the next morning. We did provide a written request for a no charge or a discount, however we were charged in full.

This park should really provide full disclosure on their website about offensive noise levels. This sleepless night will not be soon forgotten and we hope no other tent campers suffer as we did.

Campers Inn was a nice little RV park in the city of Dunnigan, California.

The campground has lots of trees, clean bathrooms, club houses for groups, a 9-hole chip and putt golf course, a pool and a little country store.

It was a nice place to stay. The campsites accommodated my large rig with 50 amp service. The laundry room and store really come in handy.

Our family has stayed at Smithwoods RV Park many times over the past 25 years. This last visit presented our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children with some very interesting challenges but were resolved beyond our satisfaction.

When the kids were younger the swimming pool and playground provided hours of entertainment. Now that they are older the challenge is finding safe and exciting things for them to do. The management not only gave us directions to bowling, hiking and a great local skateboarding park they also pointed out fun community activities happening during our stay! In addition they asked our children for advice on how they could bring more fun to the teenage guests!

We love this place and are booking our next stay now… I’m sure with their focus on family we will continue to “camp” here in paradise at Smithwoods!

Kamp Klamath is a great campground with quiet camp sites in the redwoods.

They have a great staff to help campers. A recent fire destroyed the cafe and office but they were organized and efficient. Their Saturday Salmon BBQ is a must do! — Dallas West

We just completed our second stay at Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground and it was great!

There is real family, camping feel here. The campground is very comfortable and all our needs were meet. The facilities were clean and well kept and the people were friendly.

If you go, stay for the Saturday night Salmon dinner WOW its great!

Before even checking in, the “rules” were laid down. I would think that most would be common sense since most people have stayed in an RV park before.

I parked my RV in the parking lot as instructed the night before and left it there since the office was still closed at 8:45am. When returning, I pulled up to the office and hopped out of my truck so I could check in while my father re-hooked the truck up to the RV. A person immediately came out telling me I couldn’t park there. My dad didn’t even have time to open his door to hop out and get into the drivers seat!  We stopped to switch seats. Then I get inside, and another person looks at the 2 4-wheelers standing straight up in my truck and proceeds to tell me that I can’t ride those 4 wheelers in the RV park.  I told him we just came from Pismo Beach, and that is the only way to transport them, and no person in their right mind would try to ride them in the RV park. I didn’t feel that I should even have to be told not to ride them there. I hadn’t broken 1 rule yet, but was treated like I had.

The bathrooms and showers were poorly maintained, and had a terrible smell! The laundry parking was not as stated on the map-there was none. Only signs that said “employee parking only” You had to leave the RV park, and go thru the broken down trailer park to get to the laundry. The gate that lead to the laundry was locked at 9am, so you couldn’t even access it. Why lock it at all? Only had 4 machines, and some were out of service.

The security was great. I say that because, I felt like there was so much, they were out looking for someone to break a rule! (they were nice though). I will say that the Snack Shack was wonderful. The people who run it deserve a better place! I thought when booking, oh well, its cheaper, and I’m just sleeping there since I’m there to sightsee, but after visiting, I wish I would have paid the extra money and stayed somewhere else.

It really has the “run by the city” feel. Kinda like when you go to the airport and talk to the “airport security workers”. That kind of atmosphere. I went on a month long RV trip through 6 states, and this is the only RV park that I didn’t like.

We had an awesome time at Kamp Klamath! Wooded, Secluded, peaceful, are a few of the words that immediately come to mind.

We stayed here for a week 19th July – 26th July 2010. A large party of us… one set in a tent, the other in a fifth wheel RV. The camp was so accommodating for us all to be on a single site together.

We stayed for the Saturday night BBQ. It was around $15 per person and well worth every penny. Smoked salmon or chicken, whichever you like plus salad, veggies, and rice. It was an amazing time with live music by camp host Douglas… the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.

The staff here are wonderful and helpful and point you out to places that aren’t on any tourist map. You will have the best time if you camp at Kamp Klamath. It’s worth the 2 mile drive off the freeway! We will be coming back!!!

Actually, San Francisco RV Resort is located in Pacifica, just off highway 1 and about 15 miles south of San Francisco.

This is a super campground. It’s well kept and has a great staff. Best of all, it’s located right on the Pacific Ocean. They offer full hookups and cable TV. They have Free WiFi available through Tengo Internet. There is complimentary use of a guest computer and printer in the Office.

The campsites are paved but just a little narrow if you have a slide out. An Enterprise car rental outlet is located just 2 blocks away. This is a great location convenient to I-280, Highway 1, and the Skyline Drive.

San Francisco RV Resort is a definite A+.

Anaheim Harbor RV Park is a small but decent campground about 1/2 mile north of Disneyland. The shuttles or city bus stops right in front. There is also a nice family restaurant right next door.

About 1/2 of park camp sites appear to be long term types. All the sites are blacktop and can accommodate 40-foot RVs plus tip-outs. They have Full hook-ups, plus 30 & 50 AMP service. Amenities include a heated swimming pool, playground, a large new laundry room, newly constructed bathrooms, Free wireless internet access, Free cable TV hook-ups, a Mini Market, a five hole putting green, and a video arcade.

The staff is very helpful and will arrange a rental car if need be. There are also great views of Disneyland fireworks without leaving the park!
