We stayed at Camp’n Aire years ago and vowed not to return, not because of the residents but because the campground was old and tired. That’s where the old ends and the new begins…

A few years ago, new owners bought the campground which is now an RV Resort, and I mean that in a great way. Some of our friends who had been staying there contacted us and said, you have got to come back for a visit, if you can get a spot for the season. We took their advise and went down for a visit…

The place is incredible, new electric, new grass, newly remodeled clubhouse, the old RV’s that are sold to new owners have to be totally remodeled to the parks specifications or be removed from the park… they look like brand new park models.

The owner’s are great, they live there and truly do everything to make you want to stay and feel at home. The park was never close to being full before, even during the winter season, now it’s hard to get in. We didn’t, and had to just visit our friends, who had been booked for the season.

I hope we can get back in, we’re on a waiting list and it is worth the wait!

What can I say about Saddle Mountain RV Park and campground  in Carmel Valley?

We’ve RV’d here numerous times and each time gets better than the last. The breathtaking valley views, the convenient location (all within striking distance: Highway 1, the beach, Aquarium, 17 Mile, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Garland State Park, restaurants, and grocery stores), pet friendly (must be on leash), hiking trails, nice clean bathrooms, hot showers, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of parking. Our 4 year old especially enjoyed swimming in the pool, playing badminton and horseshoes, exploring on her bike, and nature walks.

The only disappointments were not being able to have a fire-pit wood campfire (only propane), a very chilly “heated” pool, and no on-site laundry facility. However, the pleasant staff made-up for it by being so professional and accommodating; they referred us to local launderettes within 1.5 miles. Lastly, the one-lane bridge looks precarious- it’s safe. Just take your time crossing it and note that the left turn up the hill to the RV park will sneak-up on you. If you’re towing, it might be a good idea to unhook prior to turning onto Schulte Rd. while you’re on Carmel Valley Rd.

As world travelers and having lived in other countries, I must say this is one of our favorite places on earth. Cheers and happy travels!

We found Moon River RV Resort through the Good Sam Club.

The campground has big shade trees for the desert (finally some greenery). They do not block your signal, due to the fact they are trimmed regularly. The campground is quiet, clean, comfortable, and pet friendly. They have an awesome staff and managers. It’s a newer park for the area with spacious sites. Our Verizon service worked well and at times, their free wi-fi worked better than our My-fi Internet card. They even have mail service.

The campground is privately owed and well maintained… they have some of the cleanest restroom/showers we’ve ever seen! It’s a great area with many things to do. We kayaked one day and played golf the next, in month of December. We are definitely returning!

Although I wouldn’t consider this a “resort”, it’s a nice campground with the beach on one end and the intercoastal waterway on the other. North Beach is actually on Vilano Beach, located about 3 miles north of St. Augustine on Hwy A1A.

The pavement ends at the front office, from there its flat sandy roads that wind through the deeply forested campground. Palmetto’s grow between each campsite so there is plenty of privacy. In some areas of the campground the palmetto’s were so thick you could barely see to the next site. The campground is so deeply forested that the roads in the campground seem like tunnels. There is free wifi throughout the campground, and it could be easily picked up inside our motorhome. They also had cable, and sewer hookups.

The facilities were clean and well maintained. We camped at a site in one of the older sections, so some of the facilities were a little dated, but still clean. There is a newer bathhouse in a newer sections by the riverfront, but we didn’t get a chance to check it out. All the bathhouses have laundry rooms which were also clean and well maintained. There is a game room in the main office as well as a bath house and laundry room. They also have a small campstore with all the basics. They have a big pool with a huge hot tub.

The campground was fairly busy when we were there, but it still was quiet and very laid back. We loved it!

We stayed at Green River Stable from the end of September through the end of December while working at Amazon for the season.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the stables. Darrell and Erin the owners are wonderful people and very easy going. This park is not for everyone. If you enjoy dogs and horses, fun people, cook-outs, music, holiday parties, the best tenderloin in the world, being right next to a state park then you will love this campground. If you are more into rules, regulations, parking lots and city life than you should camp elsewhere.

We will definitely return to GRS as many times as we can. I rate it 5 stars out of 5 stars.

The Madras KOA is about 10 miles south of Madras, Oregon on Hwy 97, and then a 1/2 mile east on Jerome.

This is a typical KOA, the sites were large and spacious, a nice park like atmosphere, friendly folks and anxious to please. The views from the campground are great. The park is quiet and the sites are grassy with some shady spots. They have a heated outdoor pool. Fishing and boating are nearby. There is a convenience and gift store on the property. They also have free Wi-fi.

They have weekend ice cream socials from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We had a great time camping here!

We weekend camped at Salem Farms Campground for two years. The owners are great people. They work very hard for their campers.

The park is clean and well maintained and the bathrooms are awesome. Each site is approximately 40 x 50 ft., and a minimum of approximately 2000sq ft. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Also each site includes free cable tv and wi-fi. They have new playgrounds and a new snack bar and ice cream stand. Wow!

The campground is a short drive from lots of attractions including Mohegan Sun and Foxwood’s Casinos, Tantaquideon Indian Museum, Mystic Seaport, and the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium

Salem Farms Campground is truly a family park. Family owned and operated.

Catherine’s Landing resort opened this year, so I was rather unsure about what to expect. Well, it definitely exceeded my expectations. Not only was the area beautiful, the staff was super-friendly, the RV sites were adequate, and I loved having the lake in my “backyard”.

My teenager enjoyed the fitness center and the entire family really liked exploring the area with the nature trails onsite. We got some great boating/fishing in, roasted marshmallows (they have some nice industrial grills in an outdoor pavilion area), and even purchased a bottle of wine from their lodge shop and watched the sunset. The only problem I had was with the Wi-Fi, but one of the employees assisted in getting it back up and running.

I recommend this place to anyone who loves water and is traveling to Hot Springs! Make sure to check out Garvan Gardens while you’re there.

When looking for an RV Campground near Pikes Peak, CO, I found Cripple Creek KOA.

The description on their website as well as the KOA site was fantastic. However, the place is not easy to find (does not even come up on a GPS). It is not that it is that remote because it is not remote or secluded at all. It is however far from the Pikes Peak area and attractions I visited. It was at least an hour drive to get anywhere I wanted to go.

In my opinion, the owners were very rude. The website does not contain any photos of their RV sites because they are very cramped and stacked on top of each other on the side of a mountain that is desolate. There are no trees. The sites are very unlevel. There is no cell service (and they say there is cell service). I would rate any other campground I’ve been to over this one. There are many other/better choices around Pikes Peak. In fact, there are gorgeous places in the Cripple Creek area. This one was awful.

I would have to give credit where credit is due. The staff at Canyon Trail RV Park is very pleasant to deal with, and always cheerful.

Our first visit here was nearly four years ago and at that time would have definitely been rated 5 stars out of 5. Unfortunately, over the last few years, and our frequent visits, it’s sad to see what appears to be a degradation to the overall quality and experience of staying at this park. They just let things go. From dead trees that still stand to garbage blowing throughout the park daily, it’s apparent that somewhere over the last few years there’s been a drastic shift in management’s concern over this park. Visitors are constantly informing staff of broken and non-functioning laundry machines and disruptions in TV service and complete lack of advertised internet/WIFI services.

This is just really sad to see what once was such a beautiful park becoming what seems to be a typical trailer park.
