Wenatchee River County Park - Monitor, WA

Wenatchee River County Park is a great campground… so great in fact, that you really need to get reservations before you come. The park is located a few miles west of Wenatchee and about 40 miles from Lake Chelan, right on the Wenatchee River. The campsites are all in a circle so they are well spaced and easy to back into. There are a few pull-thrus also. Showers are clean and neat and there is a small playground for the younger kids and a golf cage for the older ones.

Tower Rock at Gifford Pinchot NF - Randal WA

Gifford Pinchot National Forest has some great campgrounds and while it would be a stretch to call Tower Rock "great", its not bad. They offer dry camping only and it doesn’t open until mid May, but it does have fire-rings and picnic tables.

Information states that Tower Rock can accommodate RV’s up to 22′ long, but I think longer ones will fit in most of the sites. (If I had my ruthers, I would chose Site 2 as my first choice and Site 1 as second as they are both along the Crispin River.) They offer pit toilets, no dumps and drinking water is available.

We stayed at Camp’n Aire years ago and vowed not to return, not because of the residents but because of the grounds, management, the poor electric, the old clubhouse and the pool had leaked for years. That’s where the old ends and the new begins…
About 4 years ago, new owners bought the campground which is […]

Ellensburg KOA might be the only game in town, but it’s a great campground for the overnighter or the fort-nighter. It’s located right on the Yakima River, and it has easy access to I-90.
Sites are full service but some are too far from WIFI to reach so ask to make sure. They have bike rentals, […]

Maine

Keenes Lake Family Campground - Calais, ME

We found Keenes Lake Family Campground very dilapitated. The bathrooms were very dirty and the shower stalls were full of mold. We were there for long weekend last July and I felt we wasted our money camping there.

There was nothing for adults to do. No dances, social evening for campers to get to meet other campers, nothing. The buildings are terribly run down. The other campers we talked to said the owners were doing absolutely nothing for campground. We could not even get anything from the Canteen as it was not open.

Williston Crossing RV Resort - Williston, FL

This is a relatively new park in Williston Florida. The idea of the park is great. The execution on the idea is no so great. First, the owner who is a contractor from Georgia seems to have no idea what he is doing. Like some contractors, it looks like he starts a job or a […]

There’s nothing more scenic than traveling the Columbia River on the Washington side (State Highway 14) and this is a great place to stop for the night and get some exercise .
Going east on State Highway 14, cross US Route 197 and 4 miles beyond you will see the sign for Columbia Hills (It use […]

Palouse Falls State Park - Lyons Ferry, WA

If you like to be alone, Palouse Falls State Park is just for you, at least when we were there last October. There are no hookups and you park your rig in the parking lot, (tent sites are on grass). The only other folks we saw, took one look at the park and decided to […]

The Cape Motel and RV Park - Neah Bay, WA

The Cape is the only RV park that I would recommend using if your going to visit the Makah Nation at Neah Bay. Grass and gravel give the place a real park like atmosphere, and the new owners are friendly and helpful. Its full service without Internet when we were there but that might have changed.

The bathrooms are ok, nothing spectacular. Spaces are wide and generally you can pick the space that you want and then go register.

Crow Butte Campground - Patterson, WA

Crow Butte is a great Campground and on my "keeper" list. Crow Butte is on a small island in the Columbia River, by the Umitilla National Wildlife Reserve, off Hwy 14. Once a state park, it was turned over to either a private corporation or county, not sure which… but it retains its great state park atmosphere.

We stayed here last October and shared the park with possibly 5 other rigs and there are 100s of spaces, each with electricity, water and sewer (no cable or Internet).
