Campground Reviews for August, 2006
Whispering Oaks Campground - Baldwin, MI
We just happened to drive by Whispering Oaks Campground and decided to stay. The campground is smaller but very well kept and clean. The interior roads are nice gravel. The property has lots of flowers all over and the grass is kept nice and clean. They have a store, laundry, playground area etc. (could use a pool) and it was all very well maintained. But the biggest surprise were the restrooms.. SUPER CLEAN!! really, and all the time, we stayed for a week and everyday they were cleaned and nice.
Crown Point Campground - Strafford, NH
We went to Crown Point Campground recently with friends who go once a year. We found the campground to be not too big which was great for watching the kids. The sites were clean and the restrooms were very well maintained. The sites are large… with some private and some not so private. The management enforced the rules with was nice, especially at night.
Snake River RV Park - Idaho Falls, ID
We stayed at Snake River RV Park and Campground over this past weekend. The camp sites were in poor shape. Restrooms were not well maintained. The men’s room had no operable urinals. One of the three showers was not usable. There were no security lights at night and no security anywhere.
The pool and hot tub […]
Sagadahoc Bay Campground - Georgetown, ME
We checked into Sagadahoc Bay Campground on August 18th, for a 2 night stay in cabin #210. We ended up leaving after the first night. We were very disappointed in the cabin. The cabin itself was cute inside however, we feel that it was not represented accurately to us when we made our reservation.
First of all, they really only sleep 4 people comfortably, not 6. True, there is a very small loft. However, 2 adults can’t fit up there. 2 children may be able to, but there isn’t a bed of any type, nor would an air mattress even fit up there.
Flat Rock Ridge Family Resort - Lebanon, ME
We recently spent a week at Flat Rock Ridge in Lebanon, Maine. We were very dissappointed with the securty and the owner. I did not consider the facilities to be very clean, and they didn’t seem to care. The pool was dirty and the whirlpool scummy. The pond they call a "beach" was dirty. Stolen bikes seemed to be a common problem up there too.
Potlatch State Park - Shelton, WA
Potlatch is a small State Park in the Olympic National Forest system. It’s located near Shelton. There are 37 campsites, of which 18 are utility (30/50) sites, 17 are tent sites, and 2 are for bikers/hikers. Potlatch State Park does not take reservations, it’s first come, first serve campground.
It was August, mid-week (Wednesday), and I arrived around 11:00 AM. The campground was half-full, with only a few utility spots available. By Thursday, it was full (and kind of noisy!). The camping spaces are "crammed" together. There are lots of trees for good shade, but you can still look out your window and wave to your neighboring camper. Some of the utility slots are back-in, and some are "half-circles" (try "bending" your RV around that slot!). If your RV is larger than 30 feet, you may not fit in any of the utility spaces, let alone trying to get into them!
Pinewood Lodge Campground - Plymouth, MA
Pinewood Lodge is the perfect family campground. We stayed on a spacious electric and water site, surrounded by huge pine trees. They offer swimming, boating, and great planned activites for the kids! We were there for Western weekend, which included craft classes and pony rides!!! The restrooms, as well as the grounds are the cleanest we’ve seen anywhere.
Glen Ellis Family Campground - Glenn, NH
This campground was one of the worst campgrounds I have visited. The bathrooms were not well maintained and there was no hand soap in any of them. In my travels I have never seen a bathroom that you had to bring your own hand soap.
Crystal Hot Springs - Honeyville, UT
My family and I recently stayed at Crystal Hot Springs for a family reunion. We were all sorely disappointed at the care of the grounds and facility as well as the management. The camping areas were dirty and the people assigned to certain spots was poorly planned out. The bathrooms were marginally maintained and remained […]
Fantasy Island Campground - Sunbury, PA
Fantasy Island is a beautiful campground located on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. The bath houses are the cleanist we have ever come accross in traveling the US. The campsites are on the river and others have river views along with ones further back.
Boating is one of the features on the river. If you have a boat it would be great which we did not but we enjoyed the views along with watching the people who do.
