Campground Reviews for May, 2006
Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park – Live Oak, FL
Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is located just outside of Live Oak, Florida. What a disappointment it was to camp there over the 2006 Memorial Day weekend. We had really bad power problems. Most of the time our voltage meter in our camper was reading way below 100 volts. A/C units were contently tripping [...]
Staunton Verona KOA – Verona, VA
OK, while walking around with the dogs, a guy from Texas, in a nice Class A (maybe a Monaco) with a reasonably sized tow vehicle gave me a couple of complaints about this KOA campground: The road in (off 11) is a little winding and tight for big rigs (there was little to no traffic [...]
Knoxville East KOA – Kodak, TN
When you approach Knoxville East KOA campground, engage your four-wheel drive. Just kidding, but the truth is the gravel driveway is loose, the hill is a bit steep, and there are numerous washouts. I wouldn’t bring my hundred grand-plus land yacht up here until they get some pavement in. This is the main weakness here. There are deluxe sites, but for some reason the team chose to get a basic one tonight. The regular sites are mostly level and all shaded with mature trees.
Wytheville KOA – Wytheville, VA
Wytheville KOA is your regular old KOA… clean, predictable clientele, and a friendly staff. Some poison ivy, so watch when you’re walking dogs or if the kids get into the underbrush. The pull-throughs are a bit short (and not exactly contractor-level) but can easily accomodate 30 and above feet. Also, there are two clean, fenced-in [...]
Oklahoma City East KOA – Choctaw, OK
Helpful is the first word that comes to mind for this nice, woodsy KOA campground (every site has trees). The bumps on I-40 are so bad (keep this in mind when planning routes) that our black water PVC pipe came loose from its hook to the frame, and I had to get out and do [...]
