Campground Reviews for November, 2005
Brookdale Family Campground - Meadville, PA
I have been camping at Brookdale Family Campground for two years now. I started going up for weekends and soon became a seasonal permanent camper. There are always activities for kids and adults. The owners, Robin & Tim, do everything they can to make your camping experience great. This is a pet friendly place too. In addition, I had hip surgery this year and everyone went out of their way to include me in activities and help anyway they could.
Adventure Bound Deer Run - Schaghticoke, NY
We don’t normally patronize private campgrounds that have been bought by large corporations, but work in Albany brought us to this place for several days. I chose to stay here because of the proximity to the work site and the recommendation from a seasonal camper at Deer Run.
The entrance road is quite pretty, the interior […]
Poland Spring Campground, Poland Spring, ME
On our way home from Northern parts of Maine, we decided to stop at Poland Spring Campground for a couple nights to just "kick back" and get ready for the long ride home. We pulled in with no reservations as usual and found a cute little paradise. There were a lot of seasonal renters, and all were maintained to the max. The grounds are very wooded, bringing back a sense of the old days of camping. Some big rigs would have trouble in many sites, so a call ahead would be very smart.
Salter Path Family Campground - Atlantic Beach, NC
We saw the negative comment on 10/8/05 about Salter Path Family Campground. They probably didn’t care anymore because they sold it to build condos. I’m sure the employee knew she wouldn’t be fired. It really was a great place before they gave in to a huge amount of money and made a lot of repeat visitors and full-timers really sad. A lot of the Emerald Island campgrounds have sold to condominium developers in case you are planning a trip there - don’t waste your time looking for a campground.
Beech Bend Family Campground - Bowling Green, KY
This is a large campground with an amusement park and racetrack nearby. We stayed here this past Labor Day weekend and had a great time. Although it was extremely busy, with kid everywhere we still managed to enjoy the campground. Sites are fairly small and some units are very close to each other. They have […]
Astoria/Warrenton/Seaside KOA - Hammond, OR
When Lewis and Clark arrived in Astoria in 1805, they liked it so much they built Fort Clatsop and settled in for a while. It?s likely that this scenic seaside town - the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies - will have the same effect on you. Here the charms of the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean practically lap up on your doorstep: fishing, beachcombing, kite flying, whale watching, sand-castle building and clam digging. You?ll find all the necessary equipment in the KOA campground store.
