Campground Reviews for October, 2005
Hayti/Portageville KOA - Portageville, MO
This campground has new owners. We have stayed here before and stopped coming because the old owners were so rude. The campground got more and more run down.
The new owners and staff are wonderful. The campground is now clean and inviting and the store is looking fresh and new. We were too late for the […]
USI RV Park - Wichita, KS
This campground is fine for an “over night” stay, but beware the on-site managers. The husband is nice and helpful, but the woman behind the desk is horrible! She treats many of the campers with disrespect and disdain and if you ask for ANYTHING, she threatens to throw you out of the campground.
Red Apple Campground - Kennebunkport, ME
This one was a real find. Red Apple Campground was exceptional in every respect. We were looking for someplace in the Kennebunkport (Bush family summer residence) area to celebrate my wife’s Birthday. She loves the area for its quaint New England flavor and great shopping at Perkins Cove. As we use a motorcycle for transportation, the owners offered to lend us their car to drive to an upscale restaurant for her Birthday dinner.
Fox Den Campground - Cosby, TN
This campground is located near Pigeon Forge. We stayed there with our two children for my birthday. We had the worst weekend. The sites are way too close together, the noise from the road is awful, and the pool is too small. Also the manager is very rude and unproffessional.
American Heritage Campground - Olympia, WA
American Heritage Campground is located off I-5 Exit 99 just South of Olympia Washington, with a truck stop at the exit, which makes for ease of refuelling. The park is 1/4 of a mile off the I-5 freeway with treed sites including water, power and sewer, no cable at the present time. There is a pool, clean bathrooms and showers, large game room with viedo games and rental bikes and trikes for the kids. In the summer there is a hayride every night at 7 pm.
Quinebaug Cove Campground - Brimfield, MA
This a warning for anyone looking into this campground. We were booked in for two days and had to cancel 48 hours prior due to unprecedented rainfall and flash flood warnings for the area.
This campground is next of a large reservoir and our sites were on the lake. When checking with the grounds keeper […]
Lake Myers RV Resort - Mocksville, NC
I have been a seasonal camper at Lake Myers for many years. I’ve seen it go from original owner to another couple then to a corporation who is buying up campgrounds left & right. The place is not kept up the management and very rude staff rude as well.
They sent out new contracts for 2006 […]
Beaver Trails Campground & RV Park - Austin, MN
I would recommend Beaver Trails Campground in Austin Minnesota. The campground has large, level shaded sites. There’s lots to do as they feature Theme Activities, a swimming pool, trails, Mini-golf, stocked fishing ponds (big fish and free), game room and trails they even have a restraunt. Free wi-fi for all to use. Well kept […]
Lake Champagne Campground - Randolph Center, VT
With New England fall foliage near peak, we decided to spend an October weekend camping in Central Vermont. We’ve always been aware of Lake Champagne Campground as we have passed thru the area many times. This time we decided to give them a try.
The park is conveniently located a short distance from I-89, exit 4 […]
Northern Pride Lodge - Kokadjo, ME
This place was an experience almost beyond words. As a campground, facilities are very limited. There is only 15amp electric with no water or sewer. For a fee, you can run a garden hose to fill your tank. or come in full. There are only two transient sites, the rest are seasonal, but the lodge is fantastic. They also have several grassy tent sites on the shore.
Northern Pride Lodge sits about 30 minutes north of Greenville and Moosehead Lake. Baxter State Park is a short distance to the North, but don’t let distance fool you. The pavement ends just North of the Lodge and the trip to Baxter is completed on dirt roads owned by a lumber company. The grounds are well cared for and the Lake is beautiful. A short walk away is the "village" of Kokadjo, (pop. Not Many). Here you will find the General Store, Diner, Tavern, Video Rental, and Souvineer shop, all in one building.
