Campground Reviews for September, 2004
Bill Monroe’s Memorial Campground - Nashville, IN
Bill Monroe’s Memorial Campground is one of the friendliest parks! The host, the fulltimers & even the daytimers are welcoming and helpful. The park is in a nice location in Bean Blossom about 6 miles from Nashville shopping. It’s worth a trip to the Nashville Opry while you’re there as well. Seems there’s most always Blue Grass pickin’ going on for free entertainment and a flea market alongside the campgrounds.
Hueston Woods State Park - College Corner, OH
Hueston Woods is an older park with lots of trees. It is way too densely developed - most (maybe all) of the spots are shared pads. Most of the lots are very much not level. The camping area needs lots of TLC - it’s not very well maintained. Not to mention Ohio’s $8/reservation fee on top of the daily camping charges making this pretty expensive.
Riverside Park - Berlin, WI
Riverside Park has one of the friendliest hosts ever & the scenery is superb - spacious sites, $15/nite & every amenity… I can’t say enough good things about it - stay here & you won’t be sorry.
San Lorenzo Park - King City, CA
This park is a suprise find. A very nice little park that doubles as an old farm equipment museum. They have a large grassy area with two large play gyms for kids. We’ve been there on at least one holiday and it’s never been crowded. It is about half way between Salinas and San Luis Obispo on highway 101.
Cotillion Gardens RV Park - Felton, CA
This park is older and dated. None of the facilities are handicap accessible. It is not children friendly or large family friendly. Do not plan to stay here if you have more than two children over the age of three that can speak or walk.
Fox Fire Resort - Milton, WV
Big-rig friendly RV park with paved interior roads and large, level sites. The resort is located on US Route 60, just off I-64 at exits 28, 3 miles west of Milton, WV. The resort includes RV camping with 117 full hook-up sites equipped with 30 & 50 amp electric. Activities include fishing, waterslide, spray ground, swimming pools, jacuzzi, paddle boats, kayaks, putt golf, tennis, basketball and volleyball and holiday entertainment. They also offer hot air balloon rides!
Rifrafters Campground - Fayetteville, WV
This is a very small campground about 2 miles south of the New River Gorge Bridge, just off US Route 19 in Fayetteville, WV. While the campground itself has few amenities it’s right in the middle of the New River Gorge vacation area… with eighteen rafting outfitters, countless restaurants and several recreation areas only a few minutes from your site!
Garlic Farm RV Park - Gilroy, CA
We stayed at the Gilroy Garlic Park for 481 days. Most of the time it has been a very nice place to be. But in the last few months it has been going down hill. It came to a head this week. Just to let you know we are in the park from late Sunday night/early Monday morning till Friday afternoon when we leave to go to our house in Nevada. We have been doing this the whole time.
Crown Point Campground, Strafford, NH
Spent last twenty years there as a seasonal camper. The new owners do not make camping a fun experiance. Their rates have become competitive with everyone elses but they offer nothing for what they are charging! The campers have been doing all the entertainment for the campground and that is all over. The pond is infested with leechs and weeds, not to mention the algea. This campground is losing 15-25 seasonal campers this year that most have averaged over 10 years seasonal there. There are plenty other campgrounds out there that can make your family camping a much nicer experience!
Walt’s Cozy Camp - Chiloquin, OR
Walt’s Cozy Camp is a quaint small campground located in Chiloquin, Oregon. Very clean restrooms/showers and a wonderful host. The campground is in a rustic setting, but has full hookups with very reasonable prices. It is a good central point to explore the wonderful scenery of Oregon. A short trip to Crater Lake, Klamath Lake, Fort Klamath, and Colliers Logging Museum all invite you to enjoy history and beautiful scenery.
