Riverside RV Park and Cabins - Lone Wolf, OK

We had a horrible time at Riverside RV Park campground. The roads are very curvey and hard for big campers to get into the campground and the path leading to the campground is less than attractive.

The check in was non-existant. The owners came out told us where to park and said they’d collect the money later. The next day they came out and said that we reserved a week and they wanted to get paid for a week or we could get our stuff and get out! This was so weird, because we had not had any problem with them the day before but they came out the next day! We asked them what if we decided to leave early and they said their was no refunds…

The campground was not very well maintained. Their was one dumpster for trash.  Our electrical hook-up was broke and we had to connect with an extension cord to another outlet in another camping spot. When we made reservations we were told that they had a shower house, but when we got there no shower house. No coke machine, no restroom facilities, no gift store, no office, no nothing! I can say that this was the worse place we’ve ever stayed. We were the only one’s camping their that we could tell… Though their was a bunch of campers parked around that the owner said people used on the weekends. We tried to ride our bikes down the path to the campground but were met by three large pitbulls!

I don’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s not kid friendly. No playground or anything! The cabins are some run down trailor houses!

We went to Quartz Mountain but their really wasn’t much to do. No marina and you can’t rent water-craft. The amusement park there was old and look unsafe! The watersides, were ok, but with just 2 slides it got old really fast! Boring place… we won’t ever go back!

Tree Farm Campground - Springfield, VT

Tree Farm is a small campground located just east of Springfield, in the southeastern portion of Vermont. The property is located in mostly mature white pine forest. The interior roads are gravel throughout the campground and the sites are quite large. The majority of sites are full-hookup and the price is reasonable ($26 a night). The facilities are rather old, but adequately maintained. They do have several pull-thru sites but navigating a larger class A through the campground may be a little challenging.

Tree Farm has a few basic amenities, but not much. No pool, no campstore and only a small playground. There appeared to be lot’s of seasonal sites too. Nothing against seasonal campers… we’ve made some great friends along the way, but sometimes you just want to feel like you’re on vacation, not living in a trailer park.

Summer is a great time to explore the back roads of Vermont and this part of the state is no exception. While Tree Farm is a bit out of date, it’s clean and quiet and good base to explore the area.

One of our camping friends recommended Sandy Beach RV Resort to us this past winter so we decided to give them a try a few weeks ago. I must say we were quite disappointed.

First of all, if you have a larger rig you’ll find it extremely difficult navigating through the park. This appears to be an older campground built in the days when RVs were much smaller. The main interior roads are paved and narrow, the rest are gravel. Sites are gravel too, some acceptably level, some not.

What dissappointed us the most of all was the cluttered look of many of the sites. There were old tires, lumber scraps and miscellaneous items strewn around the property. Perhaps we came at the wrong time, but the property could use a lot of attention and perhaps some rules about accumulating junk on your campsite.

On the plus side, everyone at the campground, from the store clerk to the maintenance people were extremely friendly and accommodation. It’s just a shame that the property was just not very inviting.

This is a tired old campground, and certainly not an “RV Resort”, buy any stretch of the imagination.

Champlain Adult Campground - Grand Isle, VT

This campground is terrible. No one should ever go there! Now, if you believe that, perhaps this fantastic place will never fill up and we can always get a spot here.

If you are coming from New York, take the ferry from Plattsburg. When you get off the ferry turn left and go down the road less than a mile and you have arrived.

There are about 60 or so sites ranging from full service (no cable) to tents. Some of the sites are right on the lake and others are only a few steps away. The campground roads are more than adequate. The sites are level and carpeted with a beautiful lawn. The restrooms and showers are clean, but small. The owner is one of the most helpful we’ve encountered. He will do almost anything to make your stay enjoyable.

By the way, The “Adult” in the campground name does not mean what some may think. It merely suggests that adults might find this campground more to their liking than children. There are no activities for kids, no playgrounds or sandboxes.

Area activities include the many faces of Burlington (20 minutes away), the Shelbourne Museum (plan at least a day to visit), Vermont Teddybear Factory (just down the road from the museum), Stowe, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory, and a host of other places to visit.

There are a few seasonals who make the place sparkle. They’re friendly and helpful.

Don’t miss this place if you are in the Burlington area. Above all, do not write good reviews about this place. Too many people will discover it and cause it to be booked solidly through the season.

What beautiful mountain Views! While visiting in North Salt Lake city we stayed at the Pony Express RV Resort.  While the mountains were beautiful the camp ground was far that.

The poor attitude of the management sent us down the road to the next camp ground “toot sweet”. I felt like they didn’t like kids, pets, or full-time campers.   They are called an “RV Resort” but they have 140 concrete pads on the corner of 2 major express ways… not the kind of camping a full-timer would like anyway.

The campground had no shade trees and limited grass areas. They seem to be working out some “opening” growing pains and have several issues with electricity. Maybe if they work through there growing pains they would be acceptable one day but right now I would rather go to one of the other SLC area campgrounds…

Just my “two cents”. But in any case… gotta love those mountains! “Camping is God’s way of showing us his Masterpieces”

PJ’s Family Campground - Stockbridge, MI

Upon arriving at PJ’s Family Campground, we found the price was right and had made reservations for a week. Little did we know that the bathroom and shower facilites were a total mess.

The playground for our grandchildren had only 1 swing. There were no sewer hookups… just water (which had a very bad smell) and electric. The 2 ponds made the misquitoes thrive and you could not sit outside. We used 3 cans of Raid misquitoe spray in 1 week just to keep them out of the motorhome.

There was mold around the ceiling of the shower house and in the shower stalls. It looked as if the sink basins had not been cleaned out for the entire week we were there. It was 3 days before someone swept the floor.

I would not recommend this to anyone traveling in the Stockbridge Michigan area.

We just had a terrible camping experience in this campground. There were too many rules to remember and the management was not camper friendly. It was more like a Boot Camp.

The campsites were extremely small. The campground was pricy to begin with and there were so many hidden charges. There was a $4.00 charge for every extra car and a $3.00 charge for each visitor to your campground.

The scenery was pretty in the mountains, but not worth the hastle of all the rules.

If you’re riding the Windrock trails, do not stay at Windrock Campground. (don’t be confused with Windrock Park) Stay at Indian Creek Campground (has a pool, nice owners, great view) or Windrock Park (new, gravel sites with BBQ pit, picnic tables, nice owners).

Upon our arrival at the campground, we were sorely disappointed in the grounds. It was one of the worst places we have stayed at and they don’t have sewage hook-ups. We decided to try it out anyway since we drove so far. The next day, people we were staying with were screamed at and cursed at in front of our children for simply washing his overheated radiator. We profusely apologized to Gene and told him we didn’t mean to break the rules, but were trying to save one of the bikes. We tried to get him to calm down and he kept on cursing, etc. Our children were completely scared of him and called him “The Mean Man”.

The next day, we decided to take the kids to “The Lost Sea” and upon our return, Gene accused us of vandalizing the bathrooms when we weren’t even there all day. Come to find out after talking to the people who originally installed the bathhouse, the toilets back up every time a hard rain comes. Also, several people on the trails said they refuse to stay there because of problems with the managers.

Take our word, this campground is nat as good as the other two places. We ride all over the U.S. and have NEVER had a problem with anyplace except here. Trust us, take our word, and stay at the other two places I listed above. Not only are the other 2 places much nicer, but the people are very friendly.

Alpine RV Park - Marblemount, WA

Alpine RV Park has full hookups, a laundry, and free wireless, yet cheaper than the State Parks! What more could you want? The wireless was a little slow, but at these prices ($20 per night), you can live with it! Also, you have clean air and are in a little valley surrounded by the Cascade Mountain range. On the other hand, the park has no cable TV and no television reception whatsoever. Hope you have satellite or a good book. Cash or checks only.

The park is a little over two miles east of Marblemount, which has a few “mom n’ pop” restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking. Other than that, not much to do except just relax, if that is what you want. Right now, this is just a very basic park. The laundry room was not very brightly lit. But on the other hand, the laundry room has a deep sink; and washing was only 75 cents and drying was 25 cents. You can’t beat that! The restrooms weren’t spectacular, but they were clean. The women’s shower area included a bathtub with one of the showers.

A park employee as well as some teenage kids were very nice about helping me back in and getting hooked up. The sites are grassy and not level at all. The sites in the middle “open” area are pull-through. The sites on the outer loop are under trees with good shade and are back-in. Another RV’er staying here indicated that if you have satellite, you need to be in one of the “open” spots, and not the shady spots. Tradeoff. The water and electric hookups are all housed in cute, tiny, little “alpine structures.”

I heard that this park is under new ownership, and those “Alpine structures” were just recently added. I also heard that one of the park employees is an excellent woodworker, and he not only built those “cute little Alpine structures,” but also the beautiful varnished picnic tables for each site. It appears that there is new playground equipment for children, also built by the woodworker employee. There is a mini golf course in progress (not completed yet). Some really woodsy tent sites are in the back of the park. If the new owner makes the grandiose plans that I heard about actually happen (to include possibly changing the campground name), the prices won’t be $20 for too much longer. For now, this park is just a nice, relaxing little “getaway.”

Southside RV Park - Dillon, MontanaI had the very great pleasure to stay as guests of Tim and Janet Gore, owners of the Southside RV Park from July 2nd through July 5th, 2008.

Their park was immaculate, well laid out, with ample room to maneuver even the largest vehicles. There was well groomed grass at every site, with hard packed gravel to park on. Sites had full hook ups. There was a wonderful creek running through the park, and I saw some pretty nice trout while I was there.

The campground had very well maintained facilities for meetings or the weekly pot lucks. The owners go way out of their way to make your camping experience the most pleasant possible. If there is a problem, its not I will get to it soon, its right now.

Great fishing and guides are available. There is also wonderful food nearby… Sparky’s Garage for prime rib is a good play.
